I haven’t watched wrestling regularly since WrestleMania. I don’t watch weekly programming and have half paid attention to PPVs and Takeovers while watching with my son. I have noticed that Balor hasn’t appeared as the Demon since returning to NXT. Has it been brought up on TV? Has he officially retired the character or is it possible he can revive it on special occasions?

He said last year that it wasn't dead, but it had spun out of control and developed into something he didn't want it to.
I wouldn't expect to see it any time soon, his NXT character doesn't really need it - although Kross vs The Demon will always intrigue me.

won't lie, I really thought this was going to be a reference to WCW's The Demon character.
I don't feel like the wwe really used the demon persona to its fullest to begin with. wasn't enough difference between normal Finn and demon Finn. if they'd handled it correctly, I think it could've been compelling enough to become a draw and fixture of the company.

I feel like they didn’t make it special enough, it became his feud ender, he would lose and maybe lose again, then bust out the demon and win the feud. The stories became the same. To me the demon should have been a once a year type character for the really big feuds.

Fingers crossed. It's cool as an entrance, pretty lame as a character.

It certainly became something he didn’t want when they had him use it against Baron Corbin.

Honestly, in my opinion, Finn has been out working most people in pro wrestling for the last year. The Demon worked better as something that got eyes on him and made him established early to non indie fans. Now, he doesn’t need it. I’m sure it’ll come back at some point, I just hope not for a while.
Unless that’s the sacrifice we need to make to get him to beat Kross’ boring ass.

Yeah I think it worked during his first NXT run. They didn’t make it supernatural or anything. He wasn’t really that different with or without the paint. It was just something he’d wear for Takeover. It was his war paint for the big matches. Main roster they seemed to make it as if he had super powers and was a better wrestler as the demon. Like the only way he can beat Lashley would be to turn into the Demon.

The Demon shouldn't have been used as a rare PPV attraction to sell tickets. He should've brought out the Demon when the stakes were high, if their was a huge title match or a feud reaches boiling point.
Whether it was Raw, Smackdown or a PPV, The Demon should've emerged when necessary.

It didn’t shock me that they milked The Demon though, this is the same company that turned high stakes, feud ending gimmick matches like HIAC, TLC, Elimination Chamber etc into yearly PPVs.

Finn's been better as The Prince in NXT than he ever was as The Demon/The Demon King.

Feh. Garth Brooks as Chris Gaines is more savage than Finn Balor as The Demon.

I love to see the Demon return later but he doesn't need anything extra right now. He's been incredible since going back to NXT.

People have brought up how it only works as an entrance/war paint and I agree completely with that. But that said, I'd be lying if I wouldn't love a Royal Rumble where Finn is one of the first two, gets eliminated early, then comes back at #30 as the demon.

WWE made it gimmicky and hokey as hell. I remember the promo where he was talking on the tron and fake smoke filled the screen and he was the demon and doing some awful snarling for an awkwardly long time. I laughed. I was by myself and it was embarrassed to be watching something so bad.
I like the war paint thing. He doesn’t turn into someone else or gain supernatural powers. He just looks badass and it can help mentally take him to a different level.
That being said, I haven’t missed it at all. He’s been great as-is.

I think when it was done in NXT originally it was done great. But they didn’t use it correctly on the main roster. Atleast he was never beat other than the cage match against Joe.
I think Finn is doing some of his best work right now and the demon isn’t necessary. But it’s inevitable that it’ll be used again.

The Demon is lame. Good merch mover though I’d assume.
