I know a lot of you are saying that it's crazy that they would give away Luger vs Hogan on free TV or Goldberg vs. Hogan on free TV, but back then if those matches weren't given away for free, wrestling may have still been suffering.

Think back to early 1995. WWF was doing horrible, and fans didn't care to tune in. WCW wasn't doing much better. Nobody wanted to see top stars vs. job guys constantly. So once WCW said, "WCW Nitro will have main event matches each week" the ratings came in.

Should Luger and Goldberg have beaten Hogan on a PPV for the WCW Title?? Probably. But the PPV buy rates were going to be there no matter what. The ratings on Monday night helped make the PPV buy rates go up.
