Since Jesse was mentioned in that Hogan thread, I figure I'd make a thread dedicated to the man himself. Man the run he had with both Gorilla and Vince in the 80s in the booth is stuff of legends. Hearing him ripping on the faces plus backing up his claims that I would always agree with was gold.Sad day when he left the WWF in 1990 but when he went to WCW in 92 he never lost his form with him gelling right back into it with Tony and JR.Guys wanting to be a heel commentator need to takes notes from this man. Not discrediting his wrestling career but man his time in the booth is where it's at. Feel free to share your memories/fav moments of The Body!

Jesse and Gorilla and Gorilla and Heenan was when the WWF’s commentary was at it’s best.

Jesse was the best. I agree, his best work was in the booth. I like to go back and watch old PPVs just to hear Jesse rip on the good guys, then complain/get upset when they cheat even though he said nothing when the bad guy cheated earlier in the match. I liked at WM5 when he said that the WWF finally had two champions he could really be proud of, after Rude won the IC title from Warrior and before Savage lost the WWF title to Hogan. Shame he left in 1990 right as Warrior's championship run was taking off, I would have loved to have heard the commentary during that run, and to hear his reaction to the Warrior/Savage career ending match at WM7. It also would have been interesting to hear Jesse's commentary during the Hogan/Slaughter/Iraq War feud.

I can imagine him being thrilled to see em win the belt at SSeries 91. Same for Sarge at Rumble 91 over Warrior like you mentioned. Man we missed out on a lot

I guess the if Jesse stayed is what would have happened with Heenan? I can't imagine them doing a 3-man team with two heels. Do they split the duty, Jesse and Vince on Superstars and SNME, and Weasel - I mean Heenan - and Gorilla on the PPVs?

Yeah it wouldve been interesting to see what they done.A 3 man booth with Gorilla,Jesse and Bobby wouldve been GOLD.and this is coming from a guy who was never fond of 3 man booths. Whatever they did though we couldnt go wrong thats for sure.

Loved his assertion that his 2 pinkies weighed 2 lbs and Dino Bravo still benched 710.
Guy put heels over huge even when it was difficult to believe. After Honkys big run and he slipped way down the card, Jesse still made this guy seem legit.

I loved Jesse, he was hilarious, even when he was bagging on my heroes!

For my era, it was cool as hell when he was the guest referee at Summerslam 1999

Jesse Ventura leaving the WWF in the summer of 1990 was a huge shock. I remember SNME in July of 1990 and hearing Jesse and then SummerSlam it's Vince and... Piper?!?! I remember Piper tried to be like Jesse. But it wasn't the same.
Jesse showing up in WCW in January 1992 was huge for WCW at the time. I enjoyed Jim Ross and Jesse Ventura as commentary team all through the 1992 year and the 1993 year was great with Tony Schiavone and Jesse Ventura together for the PPV commentary team. It sucked in 1994 when Bobby Heenan came in, because I did like Bobby, but I preferred Jesse calling the matches in WCW more so than Bobby.

Jesse sure loved him some heels. Personally I think his 3 favorites were Rick Rude, Ted DiBiase, and Macho King era Randy Savage. Those guys he really seemed to get invested in.

The Body and Gorilla were the best combination imo. Epitome of a heel and face announce duo.

I was watching the 1985 Wrestling Classic last night. Jesse is pure fire! He keeps saying it’s not fair to Macho to wrestle JYD! Hahaha, he even gets in the ring to protest!
