Anyone try New Coke during its run?

I was too young to remember drinking New Coke, but I do remember when it came back as Coca Cola Classic, my father said it was the good Coke.

Good Coke is the stuff from Mexico that comes in 12oz glass bottles. They sweeten it with real cane sugar. It tastes better than the stuff with High Fructose Corn Syrup.

This has been something I've been perplexed by as well since I was a teenager having been born in '85. Every time I have asked for a clear and accurate description it pretty much lands like around what Rowdy said above. Heard some folks claim it tastes like Pepsi.

We had the chance to give it another shot when Stranger Things made those promotional cans a few years ago and of course I dragged my feet on that and never got one.

There are still some on eBay but they're probably a couple years expired by now. Better than 30 years expired!

I'd say give it a try and let us know.

Funny thing is that New Coke was still on the market in some nations under the name Coke II until 2002 when Coca-Cola finally pulled the plug on it

Coke was trying to make new Coke taste like Pepsi

It was even in the US...you juts had to be in the right region/market.

Ok before the proverbial "Jack probably did" well nope. I never drank soda. I remember when it came out though and no one liked it. So many people said they liked Pepsi better so Coke decided to make it taste like Pepsi, hence the "New Coke" but then everyone shunned it. People were teased if they were caught drinking it even.

Depends on where you live. Different regions call it different things, which also vary over time. My grandmother has never lived more than two to five miles where she was born, and calls it "tonic" in spite of most people in New England calling it "soda". Inland, you get a lot more people calling it "pop", but my favorite is in the south. I lived in Texas for seven years, and "Coke" was just the blanket term for soda.
