Anyone else feel he was way off his game last night? He didn't do a lot when he was in the ring, seemed to be facing hard cam trying to get crowd reaction a fair bit then up on top of the cage he clearly took the blade from his wrist tape facing the hard cam very easy to notice, but he took it out well before the blading spot. He was also seen and heard calling the spot for the dive.
I wonder if he was just crapping himself over the thought of going off the top of the cage so was a bit off...

I agree Chris did look off last night - maybe knocked back a few to help the blood flow while he was in gorilla? He was noticeably slower in the ring and gingerly made his way on top the cage.
The smiling/laughing at the end was both poor tv production camera work AND unprofessionalism by not selling the spot more.
Wasn't his best night that's for sure, but how many 50 years olds want to do a spot like that?

I'd honestly have to watch it back. I was really invested in the match and enjoying every second, so there's a bit of critical blindness there on my part. To be fair though, his role wasn't to be the workhorse in the match. He got the poetic moment on top of the cage with MJF for the finish, took a good bump off the top of the cage. (Any complaints about how the bump looked 100% fall on the production crew and camera crew, not on him). After the bump I honestly thought he was trying to look like he was 'wincing' in pain, but I can definitely see how it was also just a smile/laugh. Truth be told I was more focused on MJF at that point anyways so I wasn't paying much attention to the docs around Jericho or Jericho. I did like how he just basically flatlined when he first hit the ground though. Definitely didn't do a bunch in the match up to that point, but I mean, there were 9 other guys in there absolutely killing it, so I didn't really need him to. I'm sure it wasn't his best AEW performance by any stretch, but I'd be surprised if it was his worst. There have definitely been a couple other Jericho matches where I thought he's looked super off too.

I first noticed in the match he had with Orange Cassidy when he had clearly forgotten how to take a Dragon Screw and then couldn't roll up into his finish, and he hasn't picked up since. I honestly don't know if it's just his age suddenly catching up to him, or if it's something to do with wrestling in one location, once a week at most compared to four times a week when he was in WWE, and only really wrestling at PPVs (which are every three months), but that sharp, crisp Jericho we've come to expect simply isn't coming through.
I'm in two minds about it - either he needs to do whatever it takes to get back into the shape he was in in 2018, or he needs to step away from in-ring work and be a full-time commentator, manager and non-wrestling personality - otherwise, if he isn't careful, he's going to start being seen by fans like the Undertaker was in the final ten years of his career.

He doesn’t have a real boss anymore, and he’s a much bigger star than all of his co-workers. He’s got no incentive to lose the chub, lay off the booze, or have some respect for himself and his job. Nobody has the authority to tell him to eat a salad. He’s kind of earned it. He spent thirty years having to get/stay in shape all the time, this is basically a paid retirement where he makes money getting fat, getting drunk and clowning around with young kids who look up to him for his accomplishments. Lots of wrestlers have done this, it just used to happen touring local indie shows instead of on TV. It’s how Jake Roberts spent the late nineties.

He seemed okay with me.
I mean, the match was brutal (in a good way) and reminded me of Wrestle War 92 War Games match. That is probably the greatest War Games match ever, so for the match last night to be a lot like that is a huge deal.
Jericho is also 50 years old. He doesn't have to be doing this. He has more money than any of us will ever have. So if he's a bit slow last night in knowing he was taking a giant bump off a cage then so be it. I will over look it.

I don’t know, he’s definitely had his share of f-ups in the past several months, including that lionsault that could’ve seen him end up like Hyabusa. Last night I’d chalk up more to the match itself. He wasn’t meant to do too much since he got the big bump at the end. I just wish it had gone over more like Kanyon’s cage bump, but that’s more on the camera work than anything else. The worst he can be accused of is channeling later-WCW Hollywood Hogan with those weak-ass weapon shots. I respect not wanting to hurt anyone, but it’s supposed to look like you do.
Either way I don’t think we’ll be seeing Jericho for awhile. It may well be time for him to hang it up though.

Personally I didn't notice anything off regarding him, but that's probably because my bar for him in-ring isn't all that high and hasn't been for quite some time.
That said, a few people in here and more on other forums have said he needs to get in the same shape he was in a couple years ago. Is it some revisionist history on my part or am I crazy to say he looks pretty much the same now as he did in 2017? I swear I remember people dissing his physique when he was with Kevin Owens.

Last night was really bad camera angle cuts. I don’t think that helped

I mean, Jericho could've been better and the production could've been more on point, but we just got so spoiled as wrestling fans last night. I had so much fun watching that.
I'm yet to see the perfect wrestling show, so these fall under the minor gripes category to me.

Chris Jericho is the Michael Jordan of Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment.
Chris Jericho in the WWE is Michael Jordan in the Bulls.
Chris Jericho in the AEW is Michael Jordan in the Wizards.
I don't care if he's a Bull or a Wizard. He's the GOAT ... and so is Michael Jordan.

To be honest with you guys, Blood and Guts was great - someone compared it to War Games '92 with Sting's Squadron vs the Dangerous Alliance (which is also my all-time favourite) and it sure was. Sammy nearly killed himself literally, Wardlow looked like a million bucks, and FTR slapped some respect in my mouth. No doubt about it.
But there was something not quite right with Chris. I'm chalking it up to booze, he was having a good time. He's 50, a bump like that is intimidating, he's done it all in this sport so what really does he have to prove? He didn't have to be the work horse, he really didn't even have to blade to be honest. But he also looked like he was a few steps behind in terms of performance. Speaking of unnecessary blading, was Cody busted open hard-way or did he just want colour for no reason at all?
It didn't kill the experience for me, and quite frankly the fall was fine. It was production that kept filming him full in the face when he's peaking/wincing/smiling/laughing, whatever it is, I hope they can salvage the footage and edit to make it look badass.

When Jericho finally retires, will he own a failing wrestling promotion like how Michael Jordan owns the Charlotte Hornets?

Jericho puts over younger talent. Michael Jordan ruined a number one draft pick on his own team to make a point, and 100% would have done the Montreal screw job lol. Ergo, he can't be Jordan. Michaels fits that bill a bit better
