if you take the complete package of what a professional wrestler in the "big time" and modern era (1980-now) should be...
in-ring ability, promo ability, overall star power
it's pretty reasonable to put AJ in the top 25 of all time...with some wiggle room to crack the top 20

depends.
for me maybe like 10
Behind HBK/Hulk/Macho/Flair/Liger/Benoit/Booker T/Undertaker/Kurt Angle/Brock Lesnar/HHH/Bret Hart.....idk. Maybe 15 tbh

I look at wrestling in a few ways.
There is a list of best “wrestler” of all time and that’s where I have Bret, Shawn, Angle, Aj etc.
Then you have the greatest entertainers in the history of the business and that’s where you put your Hogans, Austin, the Rock etc

Personally in my top ten favorites all time, but if your truly talking in the history of pro wrestling in general would say top 50 to 40 and that's about it.Great in ring talent and one of the better in ring talents in the last 20 years and was one of the faces of the upstart TNA and helped to carry that brand and company for a decade, but never great on the mic(good and got better during his WWE run) and not a major top tier draw on par with the likes of Hogan,Rock,Austin,Flair,Bruno...ect

I would and have disagree with HBK getting the title of "GOAT" for years now,he's one of my top three favorites all time but step back and looking at the total package when it comes to a pro wrestler think that Eddie Guerrero is clearly the best ever.Could wrestle any style you wanted, always over with the fans, had different takes on his character and looks through his career and could be play any role from the 1st match to main event on the card. Also was great in terms of being a goofy character,a fight baby face or a crazed heel.

Shawn has done all of that, Shawn Michaels has done everything. The only person that stands a chance all-time would be Ric Flair. Is Eddie up there? Yes, of course. But in my opinion in the "greatest of all time" conversation Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair are 1A and 1B.

AJ will have to overcome the stink of being in TNA/Impact for so long, which may not be possible since he spent so long there. Doesn't matter that he was usually a bright spot on what could be a very up and down program, proof being that he was in the match of the year with Joe and Daniels. Too bad he was also in a terrible story/angle with Claire. Like I said, very up and down company that often hurt its talent more than it helped.
Look at what he's done since leaving Impact though and he is one of the best in the world. The Nakamura feud in NJPW and then the Cena feud when he first arrived in WWE gave us some of the absolute best wrestling matches of the last decade.
I'm biased as he is one of my all time favs so for me he is top 10 but if I'm being honest he's top 5 for the last ten years and probably top 25 of all time.

I did the math on my computer and came up with #67 of all time.

Not to mention that infamous "THE GAY COMMUNITY!?!?" interview.

Not to mention that infamous "THE GAY COMMUNITY!?!?" interview. the idiot asked him a stupid question so that's why he said " THE GAY COMMUNITY " and a lot of people use the F-slur so no big deal don't mean he's homophobe Using the f-slur does not (necessarily) make you a homophobe, no. I'm reminded of Eminem's line in 8 mile. "Paul's gay, you're a f******". That said, it's a word that we should be working to eliminate from our vocabulary because of how it's typically used. Doesn't mean you try to end someones life for using it, just use it as an opportunity to educate why they should use a different word. I don't actually know the context in which AJ used it at all so I'm more speaking generally here.

So I searched the clips. Unless there's some context missing, what was wrong with aj saying the gay community? He didn't get a chance to actually answer, Meltzer was the one that kicked the guy and the subsequent caller off the phone line, not a.j.
Likewise I searched him using the f-slur. Every instance I found he was using it the way people used to use the r-slur or c-word etc. Yeah it's not a word to use, but that's an indication that he needs to be (politely) educated on why not to, not that he's a homophobe.
Make no mistake, he could be a total homophobe for other reasons, I have no idea. I'm just saying these reasons don't really indicate that.
