Can you imagine Okada surprise in the Rumble, Khallas by Jinder, Okada eliminated?. Graves: “MAHAL ELIMINATES OKADA!!” Michael Cole: Mahal is a former WWE Champion and has reigned over SmackDown for many months, something Okada has yet to accomplish. Hi jd.

*Braun Strowman squashes Okada in 5 minutes*
Michael Cole: “Welcome to the big leagues, kid!”
But for real, as long as WWE were to treat NJPW stars with respect and not try to make them look like jabronis on TV (which I’m guessing New Japan would be very protective of any guys they let appear in WWE and wouldn’t let that happen any way) this could be a lot of fun. Definitely something to inject some level of interest in WWE and honestly inject some interest into New Japan.
And even if it ends up kind of being a one-off, a post-COVID super card would be something special. Cena vs Okada, Orton vs Tanakashi, GOD vs Roman/Usos, etc

One of the biggest problems with this partnership would arise in terms of match production. WWE agents all their matches, and everything is super scripted to the point of being micro managed. Though NJPW definitely has its formula in the majority of its matches, the majority of the actual production is gedo going "hey, 20 minutes, blade runner".

This rumor can be considered pretty much dead in the water at this point, at least as far as being exclusive goes.

I don't think this is true, and if there are any "talks", I bet they are mostly one sided where WWE just wants to essentially keep NJPW from doing any business with AEW, Impact, and ROH.
I mean, realistically, why would NJPW want to do business with WWE? Maybe if Vince threw so much money at them that they couldn't turn it down, but I'm sure they wouldn't be thrilled to send their WRESTLERS to WWE and have them get hit with tomatoes, and interact with puppets, and have slime dumped on them. Or maybe they can have CGI animals fly out of their asses and have fart sounds and other stupid noises dubbed in over their matches?
When NJPW wrestlers show up on AEW, Impact, or ROH, they are treated seriously and with the respect that they deserve.
NJPW would have their wrestlers get treated like meaningless nobodies in WWE. Vince McMahon lives in a WWE bubble and if it doesn't happen on his show, it either didn't happen or it doesn't matter.
Maybe one day WWE will do business with other companies, and hopefully that business will be done in GOOD FAITH with the purpose to actually benefit ALL PARTIES involved, not just WWE. But I don't see that happening until Vince McMahon is gone.

I mean, realistically, why would NJPW want to do business with WWE? Because it’s a much bigger audience than they’ve ever had, and they’d be associating with the #1 company in the industry, so the exposure would be massive for New Japan. The question is, why would WWE want to do business with New Japan? Nobody from there is going to draw a dime for WWE as a one-off loan. They’re only known to the niche audience, the kind that watches AEW and/or NXT. And the answer to why WWE would want to do business is to keep Daniel Bryan sweet so he signs a new contract. I doubt there’s much more to it than that.

I mean, realistically, why would NJPW want to do business with WWE? Zero reason at this point outside of $$. They got a huge subscriber boost from America when Jericho showed up a few years ago, but it's not like WWE's audience has grown since then, so anyone that was intrigued enough from that to check it out likely already has. The whole idea of American expansion died when AEW started, since it was a lot of those guys they needed to really fuel that American expansion. The type of American audience that is going to enjoy a New Japan style product is the type that are watching AEW, NXT, etc, rather than main roster. Based on the NJPW crowds interest in Moxley and Jericho, I could see the Japanese NJPW fans enjoying the crossover, but it's not like it's going to lead to any real financial benefit for NJPW in that sense. Japanese wrestling fans are already really brand loyal.

So, is there any more to this other than the rambling promo Tony Khan made looking like an absolute mark and embarrassing himself?
