Just finished, went out disc golfing after coaching at the track today.
Nothing against Jack Evans, but I'd be interested to see Angelico go off on his own and be a singles guy. I really don't know if they're trying to distance Jungle boy from J.E. in general, or just make it clear that he is a singles star.
I'm very excited to see Brock Anderson next week. I'm done with the Cody/QT angle at this point despite being a big fan of both guys, but I'll accept it to get the Brock debut. The strap match had better be the actual end of it.
The 6 man tag was awesome as expected. Cutler is doing a great job playing the young lion. Really not excited for permutation 36542 of it next week though. I really like all 6 guys in the match next week, but it's the same as Mox's title chase where he had to go through all the inner circle members. Feels too much like NJPW touring matches. Gets stale.
In general, with a lot of these 'feuds', I've been getting sick of seeing the stories progress as 'first these two, then these two, then these two' etc etc. Was something I didn't love in dynamites early episodes, and something I don't love now. You have like 80 guys on the roster, its not hard to keep things fresh.
That said, loved the pinnacle/inner circle promos. That's how it goes. I don't need to see every single damn combination of pinnacle/inner circle possible. Give me the big matches, give me the promos. We don't need random Santana vs. Dax, etc, which is what the prior multi-man situation is feeling like.
I really enjoyed Uno/Miro. I loved Miro waving to D.O. at the end. He feels like an absolutely unbeatable monster right now.
I love Archer squashes. They're my favourite kind of squash match. I don't know what the next play is for the Murderhawk after his match with Miro, but I love the character and the matches, so I'm excited for the ride.
Leyla vs. Nyla was fine. Definitely a throw-away match this week, but with jade and britt promos this week, hopefully next week's match is more relevant. Nyla is a fine first title defense for Britt. Builds some credibility to have beaten an ex-champion too, and don't want to make Riho lose a title match that quick after moving to the US.
Main event was good. I think this is the final step in Cage turning (Finally!). There was a thing in this match that I loved. When Hangman hit the buckshot on Hobbs, not only did he trust 10 to make the cover, he was enthusiastic about it. The entire title run with Kenny was a constant story of mistrust and skepticism. When they won the titles against SCU, and how they beat the Bucks, Hangman won both matches with buckshots solo. They've been layering that story for so long and it's incredible. Hangman finally feels like he has true friends, and instead of feeling like he had to 'do it all himself' he was happy just to help his friend by hitting the buckshot. Its abundantly clear how much thought he and Kenny have put into him eventually dethroning Kenny for the title.
I really like the Avalon stable. They're a crap ton of fun on dark. I think they belong on dark right now pretty much exclusively, but they're great there.
Overall I really enjoyed this weeks, despite a few small things really annoying me. I'm sure the ratings are going to be absolute trash again like the past 2 weeks, but they knew this would be the case going into June. July is gonna be loaded and a good way to get the ratings back on track.
