I don’t understand the want for current guys in retro form, especially those who have done nothing of note. Sure Cody and Darby in ljn form etc I can understand because they’re huge over stars. Even gage I can maybe just about understand from a cult over perspective even though it doesn’t appeal to me. If they weren’t making so many people in 6-7in form, I would understand it. I like the idea of having some of my favorite independent stars in figure form…but having it in Retro form isn’t my preference. It’s cooler than a Bendie but not as nice/modern as the Elite style figures we are starting to see from other companies. Yeah I get it in current scale but isn’t the appeal of retro figures filling in gaps and a “what if the line continued” There’s literally hundreds from wwf, wcw, indie or made odd appearances (I’m thinking when rock n roll and heavenly bodies were in wwf, or the 95 rumble when all the AAA guys were in it etc) before going after current day stars Infact the biggest issue people had with retros mk1 was mattel using current talent.

Current people could potentially sell more given they are more likely to promote it, be available to do a signing, or possibly get signed by a major company and have their figure increase in value (monetary or sentimental). From a business standpoint, I get someone wanting to sign a rising star. From a collector’s standpoint, I don’t like it. That is why I passed on Danhausen.
I will probably break this rule for Colt Cabana. Since I don’t know if he will ever get a Jazwares or PowerTown figure, I’ll settle for a Retro.

considering all the issues Chella (and their spin offs) have had, maybe don't introduce more new lines, since the existing lines are having such issues?

Ordinarily I would agree but I cannot blame them for taking advantage of her publicity. They had to have known it was coming. As irritating as some of the Chella stuff has been, I think they are on the right track.

Orange card wave 3
Hey y’all, Have any of you’s received your Mattel’s yet ? I order two packs. Gotta say , excitement went away instantly upon opening. Both outer boxes where smashed on the lower corners , pretty badly. 3 of the 8 cards got what I would call the zombie bend , no where close to flat. Several cards had gouges ,scratches etc. has anyone else experienced similar problems. Mattel creations being marketed to collectors I’m surprised they would arrive in these conditions.

Sorry to hear that. Things like that really, really suck. I can’t say any of my packaging has arrived damaged but I have had a few other issues with Mattel QC over the years:
-Shinsuke’s Retro leg mechanism never stated properly for me. -Retro Bundle 1 had dust and smears on all of the figures. -My ring mat for the New Gen arena came with a stain.

Hasbros are my favorite figure style of all time. I don’t care for Elites. BCAs came out when I was in my teens. The bendems also came out when I was in my teens. The Hasbro style figure hits me right in the nostalgia feels. I like some modern superstars. I enjoy some modern wrestling product. I want some modern stars in this retro format. I just want the figures to look cool and I’ll be on board. Especially excited to see that there will be the Headbangers and Colt Cabana.

This was shared with me (written yesterday apparently in response to someone asking about making figure versions of those pins). Josh Sailor: “Yeah definitely, I would have already done all of theses guys, but I have to respect copyright laws these days. Others are doing talent, stepping all over trademarks and intellectual property rights. Last thing I want is a cease and desist while already investing alot into a figure to only have to possibly stop the production after we invested time and money into a figure. These other clowns don't care, legit have nothing to lose, and are so under the radar they are running a free-for-all and making it seem like they outsmarted me in getting certain names. If I didn't sign them, that simply means I don't want to get sued. But I'II do my best to see what I can do in the future. In the meantime, don't support trash. That's all” I’ve purchased a few of figures because I really like them. But I may think twice going forward considering what an arrogant ass he seems to be. Guy literally cannot say a good word about anyone - or even nothing at all. Not a good look. Zombie, grow up.

I’m reading in the groups and on the gram that the H&F’s Danhausen is an early candidate for figure of the year…but, which year? 2021, when it went up for po? 2022, when it was slated for release? Or 2023, when it was shipped? Also, happy that heels and faces is the “hottest wrestling figure line on the market.” I was able to flip my JJ for a nice profit (paid for half of my Mattel wave 3 boxset) Yeah, I pretty much agree with everything everyone is saying about this company, some cool looking product, but is all the bs really worth it!? And what about the Bastion Booger, is that not wwf ip? I still can’t say I’m done though (stupid me) as I would be a buyer if the Barry Horowitz and Bad News Allen ever go into production. Seen A few complaints on the quality of the tats been decals

I’ve submit a complaint , however not sure what the resolution will be. I really don’t want to send everything back , now they are finally in hand, but Ofcourse would be willing to. Maybe atleast they will be kind enough to replace the outer boxes and il just take the hit on the cards. Issues are bound to arise will mass produced items.

Guess he tried to save money by not protecting the tattoos.

This is the problem with his figures. There is nothing protecting the paint or decals. It's the same with my Jeff Jarrett - it's just matt paint without any finish. Which means over time, the paint will just scratch, chip away or even corrode.

The decal issue/lack of protective coating needs to be taken care of. I don’t expect anything can be done with current figures but it can be prevented with future figs. Even if these figures aren’t being played with, applications like that have a tendency to crack and flake over time even in good conditions. Sorry to hear that. Things like that really, really suck. I can’t say any of my packaging has arrived damaged but I have had a few other issues with Mattel QC over the years: -Shinsuke’s Retro leg mechanism never stated properly for me. -Retro Bundle 1 had dust and smears on all of the figures. -My ring mat for the New Gen arena came with a stain. Maybe atleast they will be kind enough to replace the outer boxes and il just take the hit on the cards. Issues are bound to arise will mass produced items. The Retro bundle wasn’t a big deal. I collect loose so I cleaned them off and put them on display. The mat is something I let go although now I might regret it. My concern was they would want me to send it back and that would take time that I didn’t really have. Things are better now. The ring is on a 6 foot display case so you can’t see the mat unless you are really tall. The Shinsuke retro figure had me contacting Mattel. They issued me a refund.

I am a loose collector, but i havens opened These at All to Take a closer look. I am Not really having matches but a bodyslam or a closeline can Happen just for the good Times. So if the figures loose colour so fast, that would be dissapointing. Dont Want to seal them on my own.

Is it worth trying a craft sealer spray on them to protect the paint?
