The hair issue needs addressed by Mattel, Piper's is still not as bad as Michael Hayes though, although both look like wigs. I wish they could fix that up.

A few good figures here (I love the detailed pants mold on the new Elite Strowman), but some of these are a huge miss.Nash is pretty cool. Not the '98 one I wanted, but it's still a pretty memorable look of his early nWo days, so I get why they did it. Good choice on attire, and the shirt is an unexpected nice touch. JYD is great. We got the original white one and now red/blue. Hopefully this one doesn't shelfwarm as much as the Elite did. I gotta be real about that Piper - that figure sucks. I don't know why Mattel is so inconsistent with hair color; he looks like he's wearing a wig. I also feel like Piper should've had this kilt:  They always default to the plainest one. Billy Gunn is disappointing, too. The spreadsheet problem rears its ugly head here. No logo on the crotch again (being overly cautious for no reason), awful kickpads that don't connect to his knees like his real gear did, etc. I don't think white was the way to go, but that's just personal preference. I guess they wanted black boots to not distract from the DX Army outfit. I'll be skipping this one. That Basic Braun joins these illustrious Worst Basics of All-Time:  They all have this ugly pea green color, too. Painted on shirts look terrible, and Braun having crazy baggy Hardy Boyz pants with neon green shoes further seals the deal on this one. Not all Basics are bad - The Flair/Giant set is fantastic - but I feel like the $10 pricepoint is no longer conceivable in terms of consistent quality. Drew and Charlotte have no neck, and they aren't the only ones with glaring flaws. Retailers really want the budget figures, though. To bring it back home to be more positive, that Asuka is stunning. They even molded her stomach wrap! I don't know who a lot of these NXT people are as I don't watch modern WWE much anymore, but the girl with the pastel purple gear looks really nice. I love her gradient details in the entrance vest. Warlord looks cool - it's different enough from the other one to warrant a new figure. I'm looking forward to SDCC to see what else they got planned. I have a feeling the Ultimate Editions are going to steal the show. did he even wear green shoes??? |

He wore blue every now and then. Looks like around 1984/85. Personally, I would have preferred the light blue from his Mid South days. Yeah that's from the Valentine/Santana lumberjack IC title match in 1985. He must've worn the lighter blue in WWF at some point too I would assume. He did:  |

You know, you guys keep dunking on the basics and their painted on shirts, and yeah, I get that.
However. I can't vouch for the shoes, but that Braun is spot on for the actual hideousness of that outfit. That shirt he wore was damn near painted on. Honestly, my first reaction to seeing that figure was "I see they chickened out on the nips..."
That said, I'm a sucker for awful outfits and that is indeed the Braun that's going on my shelf. I will happily wait until he drops down to below retail to pick up, but yeah. That's the Braun I want.

Yeah no way Harley is currently under a deal still. Which is a shame because a NWA figure would be rad and he would be great in the retro line. Not to mention a manager Harley to go with Vader.

It's very likely his deal expired. Though that doesn't excuse him being available for years before they finally made a figure. Or being dismissive of the demand for Harley and some others who have done pretty well at retail/secondary market. |

There's other factors involved like placement in the line, other attires to consider, and so on. They're well aware of the demand and it's a matter of semantics and all that jazz. Personally I'd want an NWA Harley before another King

Definitely hope to see manager Harley. He managed three/four guys his entire career (Vader, Luger, Mr. Hughes and Super Invader) yet he feels so important to the history of WCW. And we desperately need a Paul E. Dangerously WCW Dangerous Alliance version. Hey, he can even pair off with Mean Mark too!

I wonder if they still have the rights? I'm thinking that they probably don't... I mean, it's been over 3 years since the Flashback 3 one and there's been no sign of him since - knowing that he had a very limited release and is quite sought-after, I'm sure Mattel would have released another one by now(?). I just remember that Steve said they were working on getting Harley back in but as you said ... 3 years. That's a long time for a famous World Champion. Thanks for your input |

Thanks for your input I did a little digging out of curiosity. Harley doesn't have any merch on WWE Shop. He had a Topps card last year in a set that released in August of 2020, but before that hadn't been included since 2018. So pretty inconclusive. His deal could be up. It could have been expired before his death and the estate signed a new deal. Or maybe he's been signed this whole time and Mattel is dragging their feet for reasons. We should know after SDCC if we can expect anything in the next 6-9 months. |

That's like saying each time the nwo spray painted somebody it wasn't the same logo, lol. Not really...The green spray paint is a specific logo that was used all over merch in 2006. It's not just a randomly spraypainted D and X. Is this really a thing?…. I think the point of the spray painted “nWo” and “DX” over the legends logo is to give it that “take over” look. It’ll look ridiculous if they used the “d-generation-x” logo. I personally think it was a great touch by adding the spray painted DX letters Whether you want to accept it or not, the letters “DX” was used on Shawn Michaels tights, X-PAC’s attire, Road Dogg’s pants and boots, Billy Gunn’s boots, etc. It’s a spray painted logo As someone else pointed out, it was used in the late 90’s as well. It was just in red. But that was before DX began using the neon green colors to represent the group… back when Billy Gunn was in DX. Appreciate the fact that Mattel added this “take over” touch to the legends line and stop being so literal. |
