I’ve never been a big Bret guy. Needless to say when this match happened I was already on the Austin train.  To me, still the greatest match in WrestleMania history. Two guys at the top of their game going at it. So much good in that match. Great example how to pull off a double turn, great at showing how you make someone look strong in defeat, and a perfect example of how to use blood right. "Blood from a Stone," would not have become the iconic image that it did if Austin was constantly getting busted open leading up to this match. And even having Ken Shamrock as the ref was a great choice. Thought it was a good way to introduce him, and really sold the match, that they needed a tough ref to keep order. |
