Man that episode was all build. Couldn't watch live, just finished.
I actually really liked Jericho vs. Spears. We all knew Spears was the fall guy for the Pinnacle, but I enjoyed the match itself. I've liked the Pinnacle version of Spears. (And to be clear, I hated the Tye Dillenger character with a fiery passion).
Nick Gage does nothing for me, but w/e, it's probably just for a one off so I'll live.
I rarely criticize the booking decisions because I think they're spot on like 90% of the time, but man, what did Kaz gain from losing there.
Glad to see Wheeler again, felt like an apology match since his time with Sammy clearly got cut last week.
Also for those asking, Wheeler was trained by Cassidy and Chuck Taylor, that's why he's there protege. The man is really technically strong too. Had some great indie matches and some strong ROH matches. Also the only guy I guessed correctly in the IWTV Masked Wrestler series.
It's a testament to how over Britt is that the crowd stayed into that match. Overall I've been pretty damn supportive about Nyla but that was by far her worst showing she's ever had. So many botches. Despite that, I still enjoyed the match because Britt is that damn good, and they told a good story with it.
I thought her kicking out of the Beast Bomb was so much more than just finisher kick out spam. Signified the change in the guard in the women's division. I love Riho, but it was the ultimate ending to the Riho/Nyla beginnings of AEW, and the transition that their past efforts are no longer good enough. I know they didn't read that much into it, they just wanted Britt to look strong, but it worked for me.
I loved the Andrade/Death Triangle segment. I like Chavo fine. I hated him in WWE but I've enjoyed what I've seen of him in Lucha Underground, and it makes the Vickie thing make a lot more sense now. I'm now fully expecting Death Triangle vs. Andrade/Rush/Bandido @ All Out. Rush and Bandido aren't signing of course, neither are free agents.
I really miss the Butcher, hope he is recovered soon. Long time for a hand surgery. Blade is solid though, so the match was good.
Oh boy, what a great main event. So many callbacks to their last match in NJPW, and perfect for Archer to win, and over Mox specifically.
AFter losing 2 TNT title matches and a world title match, really helps not only re-elevate Archer, but signify that EVERY belt is a major deal. Mox is a former AEW champion that Archer just dethroned. Heightens Archer, heightens the IWGP US chamipionship, and heightens the TNT title. Speaking of which, man is this Miro freaking awesome. I remember TK saying be patient with Miro they had to rebuild him and man, did they ever.
Definitely not the strongest episode especially compared to the last couple, but a great finish, and man am I excited for the next couple weeks.
Also please give me the Final Countdown. Will lose my ish.
