I'm still just absolutely buzzing over tonight. In the last 5-10 years I can count on 1 hand how many legitimate "jump out of the chair and scream " yeah" moments I've had watching TV/movies, the first that comes to immediate mind was the Avengers Assemble moment in Endgame in a sold out theater where everyone went absolutely bat when Sam said "On your left" and the other moments are all AEW. Moxley storming in through the crowd 2 years ago... Punk's hometown return last month... Now the Cole & Danielson's double-debut tonight. I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but goddamn does it feel nice watching a full Sunday night pay-per-view and being able to say without compromise at the end, what an awesome night of pro wrestling, can't wait for the follow up shows. :')

I think Hangman shot himself in the foot. No, I don’t blame him for taking time off and putting his family first. But the timing of it couldn’t be worse. The guy is taking time off right when he seemed to be hitting peak momentum, and now Punk, Bryan, Cole, Black, etc…have all been jumping ship to AEW. BIG names who have all made an impact so far (Bryan and Cole debuting alone is huge). He’ll still be over when he returns, but the longer he stays out, the more the fans will get behind other faces while his momentum continues to loose steam. Who know what the plans are going forward now that we have all these big names jumping ship. Hangman may have been the endgame for Kenny before tonight, but that doesn’t seem so clear now. For now I agree with you that his timing couldn’t have been worse. But I also feel like had he, let’s say won the title tonight, his win might also have been overshadowed by everyone else’s arrivals. So I’m still thinking this may all work out for the best. By the time he comes back and guys like Punk, Danielson, Cole have been around for a minute, his return will again be the hot commodity just in time for him to take the title from Omega. I think had he won the title tonight we wouldn’t have seen Bryan and Cole both debut so as not to take the spotlight away from Hangman. Possibly a Cole debut earlier in the show but I feel they would have held off on debuting Bryan. I get the feeling Hangman taking time off threw a lot of plans for the main event picture up in the air and things got shuffled around (Im a Christian mark and arnt complaining that he’s got a nice run in the main event but if Hangman were he I know he wouldn’t have gotten this feud with Kenny, atleast not right now).

I agree with you on all points honestly. I’m a big a Christian fan as there is as well, and yeah I dont think he would’ve been in the spot he is now without the absence of Hangman.

Speaking of Christian... Tonight's main event should kill any "go away" boo's that were building towards him because that main event was as good anything we've seen out of Omega so far in AEW and at one or two points I legit thought he was about to be dethroned by Christian. The dude took an Avalanche One-Winged Angel at age 47 for s sake, he's an absolute legend.

Anyone boo’ing Christian being in the main event is an idiot considering Hangman was the one who wanted time off. Christian was literally a fill-in while they figured out new plans for the main event. And Christian has had two great matches with Kenny now. Despite knowing Kenny would win they still put on an entertaining match tonight and Christian had me double guessing at a few moments. Guy is a legend and at 47 is still putting on classics.

My wife enjoys watching with me from time to time, and she loves learning about who the wrestlers are outside the ring. But she doesn't watch super often so even people she's familiar with she hasn't seen much. She'd never seen Christian before, loves Omega, and absolutely fell in love with Christian tonight. She watched the Punk debut and speech and I've never seen her so captivated with someone giving a promo as punk. I'd say the exact same thing about Christian/Omega tonight.

i missed like the first 40 mins.
The preshow was alright for being a quick 10 man tag The Ambrose thing sucked. Britt vs.Statlander was good. But felt like it was missing something Young Bucks match was just the same young bucks match they always have. But in a cage. It was ok. The blood and thumbtack shoe stuff was cool. And there were some cool spots. I would've really dug the Womens battle royale if the format wasn't so terrible. With the card thing. And ppl coming out too quickly. But they do have a decent amount of women. And Ruby's debut was good. The finish wasn't great. But the kick was cool. Glad Ruby won. MJF vs. Jericho was good. But unnecessary. And im not sure it was better than the match they just had Punk vs. Darby was kinda disappointing. I understand. Punks old. Its his first match back. But when u think of a Darby vs. Punk dream match. Thats not what u think of. I wanted Darby to shine more. He did like 2 moves. It was probably the best Punk match in forever. But one of the lesser Darby matches i've seen. Quick Big Show match was quick Omega vs. Christian was weird. Because it had some really good moments. But i just found it boring. Match felt lifeless. Probably because the crowd didn't care. And why should anyone care about this match. I nearly forgot Christian/Omega was the main event. Just such a throwaway feud.

It was an okay show. Way too many debuts/returns on one show. I like the signings, but we all know these guys will be taking AEW talent’s spots. Which is okay, I guess, but it’s the “WWE guys” coming in and taking opportunities.
Punk has a lot of ring rust to wear off, but him and Darby was a decent match. Not great and would’ve been awful as a main event.
Britt Baker isn’t very good either. I can’t wait for the Statlander/Hayter feud we better be getting soon. Soho also had no business in winning the Battle Royal.

What a show! The cage tag match deserves seven stars, as far as I’m concerned. Also really liked the main event and Punk/Allin, and the returns of Danielson and Cole were incredible. Can’t wait to see what AEW gives us next.

So I’m guessing Page beats Omega and then Adam Cole and the Bucks super kick Omega out of the Elite?

If Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole don't come out....that last hour and something is pretty boring and the show goes out like a wet fart. There was no heat or drama in the main event. It was a better match performance wise. Like move wise. Then the match they had for the Impact title. But it had no emotion or anything in it unlike the last one. If i think of all the Darby matches i've watched, the CM Punk match u gotta put at the bottom. I didn't mind the slow start. Or the chain wrestling and rest holds. But it never got really good. It got ok. The cole and dbry thing is cool. But at this point its just expected when WWE releases someone or they leave they're going to pop-up in AEW. So it wasn't surprising. But it was a cool way to close the show.

Punk's tights had some mad HBK Elimination Chamber 2002 energy.

Tonight felt like when WCW had Nash and Hall appear. Really can’t wait to see how AEW does going forward. Ratings should fly up now
