The other day me and my girlfriend were seated directly across from a table with a small child that was making a ton of noise. The kid was nonstop yelling and squealing which disrupted our meal experience. We kept quiet but I did walk right by their table as we were leaving and said "it sure would be nice to eat a meal in peace". My gf told me we should have asked to move but the place was full and we had already waited 30 minutes to get in, if anything I should have told a manager to move the disruptive party. Have any of you dealt with a situation like this?? I blame the parents to be honest, if your kid can't behave in a public place then don't disrupt the meals of others is what I say.

Probably should have gone to the manager instead of making a snide comment while walking out.

I don't mind it as much; but it can get annoying I use to work in food; so I wont really ask for them to be moved just bc of the way people freak out on food workers

It bothers me. And I always think "It's the parent's fault the kid is like this". But then I let my friend (single mother) and her 2 year old move in with me. I honestly think the kid has autism. He doesn't speak. He screams in a high pitch. When she's at work, he stays with his grandparents, and the kid is lucky if he gets a diaper change. There seems to he hardly any interaction between him & his grandparents. The father is nowhere in the picture. I really feel sorry for all parties involved. Like the old saying goes, "Don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes."

Cool comment. You really stuck it to them.
Yeah, it can suck to neighbor that sort of thing, but there's a wealth of situations that could potentially be at play there that you have no clue about. Everyone always knows exactly how to be the best parent imaginable 'til it's their turn at bat. Sorry your shared Triple Dipper wasn't the quiet, dignified evening you were picturing.

You don’t go to a restaurant to have a quiet meal experience.

You don’t go to a restaurant to have a quiet meal experience. I mean, to some extent, it can be expected, but at the same time, I feel like there's this weird cross section of society who thinks that every meal out should be treated with the sort of dignified behavior befitting a Michelin star restaurant. Some friends/family rented out a theater about a month ago for a day-long movie marathon, and we took a break for lunch at a neighboring pub, and it seemed like two tables in particular kept giving us snide looks for enjoying each other's company. Really weird approach for anywhere with the word "pub" in the restaurant's name.

I dont take my small kids very many places be cause they dont behave for long periods of sitting still and being quiet. I do this FOR ME. I dont really care what kind of expectations or experience a complete stranger has.
I'd watch the crapty comments though. You dont know what those people deal with. I've seen people get the absolute snot kicked out of them over comments towards kids.

It's not me, but I know more than a few people who wouldn't hesitate to slap the taste out of someone's mouth over a comment like that. To that end, kids pick up on a lot more than they're given credit for, especially if the perception here is that the kid was old enough to know better. Way to go, captain "I blame the parents". You just hurled your comment at the parents and the kid. You're as cool as the guy who told me, in front of my six year old, that he was going to kick my ass after he almost ran us both down and got told off for it.

I once saw a lady almost run a child over in the crosswalk at a walmart. When the dad flipped her off and said something along the lines off watch for kids yada yada. (Mind you the kid was holding dad's hand, not running wild). The dude in the passenger seat yelled out your kid. Dude didnt even get his seatbelt off before he was slumped unconscious. NEVER come at someone's kid.

Screaming ass kids in restaurants are just as bad as the old crusty nosed man who blows his ing nose at the table. Get your lazy ass up and go to the bathroom, nobody wants to hear you blowing snot while they are trying to eat.

I guess this thread didn't go exactly as planned.
I get wanting to get mad and say something when something doesn't go your way but you really need to take a step back, put yourself in someone else's shoes, realize you aren't the most important person in the room and just enjoy what you have. If you have a little money maybe just rent a local Air BNB condo for a day or two and get take out. From my experience renting through Air BNB can be low price and yet still amazing just staying in.
If this was some sort of MSN article you would have gone to the toy store close by and brought some toys back for the kids and got reported for being a kind soul. So there's definitely a lot to learn here.

The whole Karen meme is even more offensive than the first post. It will eventually be forgotten about because of how silly it is. I won't even mention the Karen's I know and what they do, one of which is my mother who tips way more than 20 percent to wait staff and delivery drivers but the most well known Karen I know is THE most famous Karen in my state having received the Martin Luther King Jr. award in our state for years worth of homeless advocacy. So I would please ask to stop the Karen memes. They aren't funny and they aren't true. In fact, it's probably the real name Karen's who are trying to actually help people in this world while being put down by this silly meme.

I mean it's a negative sterotype based joke; but when I worked in food the biggest group to throw fits was the middle aged-above demographic. My mom can be a tough cookie and that's me being light; but she does these things like the other two women mentioned. When I did work in food I met many great older middle aged women. It's become a funny and a umbrella term. We call inmates who demand for our Sgts at the jail Karens.
