That's exactly what it is. Man, I hope nobody sees that and goes to those stores harassing employees because "the app said it would be here". I used to work at Walmart. This is exactly what happens. Hot Wheels collectors are the worst. Yeah, I've worked for Wal-Mart and Target. Fortunately, this was before the days of smartphones and Brickseeks and what have you, but the patrons generally remained the same.

Hot Wheels collectors are the worst. LOL I was just going to quote the original and say how bad Hot Wheels collectors are!! I worked at Target for the 2019 Christmas season and this guy would come in and ask us to just put all the cases of Hot Wheels we have in a cart so he could rummage through them all. It was nuts.

Hot Wheels collectors are the worst. I will 100% back that - Hot Wheels collectors are THE WORST. I worked at KB Toys for 7 years and they were constantly the worst. The most demanding and insane people. We got truck in once a week or so, depending on the season, and they would loiter around and pretty much expect us to bring a case out so they could pick through it themselves and would nearly get into fist fights about it. It was not expected by management that we would go in back and hunt for these things, yet they always tried to get our staff in trouble for not bringing cases out to them. Luckily the manager and asst managers were realistic enough to not deal with that crap.

Just saw 4 Studds at a Target in Texas. I ordered one online the other morning, so I left them to other collectors (hopefully, lol).

Does the item page on the target app auto refresh? Say I leave Bam Bam open on my screen, if stock changes, will the โadd to cartโ button light up or do I have to go out and back in for it to update?

Hot Wheels collectors are the worst. ๐๐๐ I use to work for Toys R Us and the Hot Wheel collectors are definitely dedicated thatโs for sure. Theyโd be lined up EVERY single morning waiting for the doors to open so they can dig through the boxes and find the chase cars with the rubber wheels. All our Hot Wheel people were really nice though, theyโd ask for the box and then theyโd stock the shelf when they were done with it and break down the boxes and leave them at the end of the isle.

I had no idea until I joined this board how big Hot Wheels actually was and how crazy the collectors are. I still find it hard to believe.

I still find it hard to believe. the fact that this was mentioned today is astonishing but not wasted on me. When I was checking a store that had Studd listed as โin stockโ on the target app, I got there at opening to find 2 other people outside, like damn this is gonna be tough to argue over who gets the eventual peg warmer of the set first, and both darted for the hot wheels, pulled them off the pegs and went through them. I thought, especially after SDCC and the last week on the forum that we can be negative or harsh at times, and the fact they both weโre going over individual pegs of HW was eye opening

Thereโs something very nostalgic about them, like the fact that they go line up at the store each morning, I remember doing that in the 90โs a lot for big releases like Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles. I didnโt know until I started working for TRU that people still did that

Insane...I can understand if the retail window passes by and you don't have the figure you want, THEN turning to ebay.
But paying anything above retail before the figure is even widely released? Crazy.
I feel like some of those people on ebay and mercari may have 2 or 3 accounts and sit there artificially inflating the price so they can manipulate people easier.

Crazy. I feel like some of those people on ebay and mercari may have 2 or 3 accounts and sit there artificially inflating the price so they can manipulate people easier. Youโre on the money there. I have this conversation with my brother all the time man, at what point in collecting did the item become MORE valuable BEFORE it was widely released? That makes no logical sense, we donโt even know if itโs hard to find yet and people are paying triple? What is this price based on? It is 100% people inflating the price, the laws of toy collecting have never functioned in this capacity, ever. I understand turning to eBay after everybody else has found the fig and itโs just no where in sight, whatever, some people just want to have it and are willing to pay more. But for all we know, itโs gonna peg warm, Greg Valentine was fetching big bucks second hand and I came across him plenty. Itโs illogical, itโs either scalpers buying up all the inventory of a particular item and deciding, this is what weโll charge triple on since weโve cornered the marketโฆor new collectors are just totally clueless as to how value works, and I blame the Funko Pop community for this one, because they operated this way and I feel now that that hobby is definitely not as popular as it use to be, theyโre all spilling into other hobbies and these people are clueless. Babies first collectible I always refer to them. The Pop community would do stupid stuff like that, just at random pick a pop and charge triple for it, based on nothing.I have right now, pops that were limited runs of popular characters sold in stores that are no longer around, that arenโt worth a dime. But then other things that would warm the pegs is worth 5 times the price. It does t work that way. People are buying up all the inventory and deciding what they can inflate. Something definitely fishy going on.
