Who is "we"?

The problem isn’t what is being offered. That a fair price for a limited run package like that. Although while a cool concept the ring could have just been designed like the ESR, because who is going to build and take apart a ring on a daily basis? Are fig fed guys going to build and take down the ring for each show? lol. But the entrance is phenomenal looking and with the ring, two figures and 2 set of skirts is a nice package. So there’s no reason for Mattel to have felt it would have reached 8K.

The reason it’s going to fail is because the collectors expecting more. They want everything shown at the 5K tier and want Mattel to add more to it. While not having to pay tax and shipping. It’s not going to happen. If everyone who wants it just ordered it already it would make the 7k Doink level and more than likely reach the 8k. But it’s going to fail because people want everything for next to nothing. Besides how they advertised it, the only thing Mattel can be blamed for when this fails is offering a crowdfunded to begin with.

No, that may be what some want. A lot of us want LESS, not more. Just see Marino's post below yours and many others in this thread. I just want entrance. Some just want Doink. Some just want the ring. A lot of those people (like me) don't want to have to buy 2 to 4 other things just to get the one thing they want.

Anyway, we're all just rehashing. We'll see how it turns out!

Could be. We'll never know for sure. Has Mattel ever tried selling a $250 bundle before and had it "sell out in minutes"? 35-dollar figures have done that, like SDCC Slaughter, but I don't remember any expensive multi-piece items like this.

I think you’re correct that the price for this is fair. At the lower production numbers, it’s likely what Mattel needs to charge for it to be a successful item.

Then, the value for the customer comes into play. The value is subjective and I think you make good points regarding the ring. The new tooling is cool, but I’d have that all covered 99.9% of the time. So, while the price is fair, the value isn’t there for me, when I can get comparable rings for much cheaper.

The whole set is a great design, but $250 is just too much for what it’s worth to me. I personally wouldn’t spend more than $200 on this, and that’s because I don’t need it and there are plenty of other options.

Considering how few people are willing to back this, why would anyone take the risk of purchasing it to resell? People already don’t want it. Why will they want it in 12 months?

There has been a lot of activity about this topic so I apologize if this has been brought up already, but is the general consensus that if they included Doink and the extra aprons at the 5k tier more people here would be willing to drop the $250 since they know what they will be getting?

Oh I think that’s a pretty safe assumption. The question is would there be 4000 people who are like that. I’m not so sure.

I will say that I bet a good number of the naysayers on here want this project to fail because if it did have a chance to succeed, they would probably go in on it because they wouldn’t want to miss out. So as of right now they’re just going to shoot it down because it would make them feel better that it’s not going to get made.

1. Don’t have the space for something with that footprint or would rather use the space they have for something else

2. Don’t think it’s value for money

3. Are genuinely not interested in it

Not everything is a conspiracy or needs to be viewed through cynical glasses - what appeals to some doesn’t to others. At this point facts point to it not appealing to anything but a very small % of adult collectors
