I know I've said this a couple times now but with the recent early bird perk additions I feel it's relevant to state again that I really don't agree with the focus on A-list figures in this set. For something that's meant to be an arena set, most of it seems to be figures, and not even obscure names like a referee. Good to see the announcer table added (though it looks a little cheap) but I really would have liked to see more actual arena pieces and accessories, or at the very least an obscure figure like a referee. I might consider backing it purely for the ring and in the hope that it might eventually lead to getting a WCW scale ring in this style (i.e. 18 x 18), and hopefully a Nitro entrance stage and Nitro announcer area. But if I did back this I would be reselling everything except the ring, which is a bit of a hassle. part of my excitement backing this set is the allure of seeing new sets in the future but maaaan an 18 x 18 Nitro Ring with the WCW_WCW stage, maybe a lil naitch charles robinson ref i would throw so much money at that, for real!

I may have just talked myself into wanting this damn ring, but then just talked myself out of it.
I just want a modern-esque ring like this… not a Classic/Retro one.

I dunno if I'd go that far...but it definitely would've moved the needle. ![8D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/insane.png) I've actually spent a little time trying to ponder what era-appropriate figure would have compelled to throw in (money honestly isn't the issue) and undertake the burden of trying to dispose of the pieces I don't want or need for financial gain. It ain't Final Appearance Savage. It's not the prospect of Doink. It wouldn't have been Aldo (not alone, anyway). The two most immediate choices aren't doable (Owen and Jarrett), and Jarrett wouldn't have been the era I wanted anyway. Beyond that, I'm hard pressed to come up with a "must have" figure that would really have me less hung up on the difficulty of unloading the remaining bits of this I don't want. I've already got a perfectly good Razor, I prefer Nash > Diesel, and the rest of the New Gen kinda just feels, I dunno, underwhelming to me. I still feel like they shoulda stockpiled them with elites rather than a couple ultimates. Figs that could be done relatively cheap and also big names that would fit great with this set but not necessarily something you’d include in the regular lineups. Lost his smile HBK, Commissioner Slaughter, Ref Shane or Patterson, 96 Warrior with the baseball cap, Dok Hendrix, Million $ Corp DiBiase, Vince with the collarless button up shirt and blazer, etc. It would be hilarious to see Steve in his salesman pitch saying for only 250 dollars you get Handsome Dok Hendrix. You get Lost His Smile Shawn Michaels. You get referee Pat Patterson. You get Ultimate Warrior with a baseball cap on and a first time in the line accessory shattered warrior portrait.

Anyone here have any pics of their rings displayed, I’m probably gonna back this. But I don’t really know how to display the ring.

Everytime I see those rings, I get so jealous. I wish I had the space for them. That Nitro ring just brings back the best of memories.

Dope. Are the figures hard to position in the ring, do they fall over Only figs that are too heavy and/or have bad ankles. But once you identify the problem figs just figure out the best way to display them so they’re not falling over and cause a domino effect.

The fact that anyone thinks this set was selling better with obscure New Gen jobbers is one hot delusional take. You, Max Moon, and Dr. Gonzo need to lay off the ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) ing brownies. If anything, having bigger stars like Bret, Shawn or Warrior instead of Diesel and Doink would have moved this more. Rather than going MORE obscure.

My point was that for something called the Ultimate Arena, the focus shouldn't be so much on figures. There should be more arena pieces and accessories.
How about ringside mats, barricades, announcer table (obviously now added but should have been there from day one), maybe even the cardboard crowd they've used for the photoshoot, or some kind of gorilla position, i don't know, this isn't an exhaustive list. And that's not even mentioning small accessories, a ring bell, weapons for under the ring, ladder etc.
I also think some collectors would be put off by already being satisfied with their existing Elites of Diesel, Doink, Macho. Not everyone wants to "start again" with a new style and some people are invested in the Elite style or prefer it and just want to build on that.
Don't get me wrong, I think the ring and entrance look great products, I'm just giving my view on why I personally think the campaign isn't going as well as desired.

I remember the old Jakks rings would come bundled with figures you couldn't get anywhere else and that is what it reminds me of. Only criticism I have is the initial rollout (immediate payment), and the stretch goals are too high. The difference between 7k and 8k backers for Mattel is $250k but all you get to show for it are a few ring skirts. Doink should have been 5.5k, the skirts 6k.

So much of the debate here is fascinating, and I think comes down to the crux of some of the issues with this project. IMO, the biggest issue isn't the era (frankly, I think any era would be facing these same issues) nor is it the value (as as been said, the MSRP of the original 3 items is roughly $250), it's more about the overall attitudes of wresting collecting vs what Mattel views as a crowdfunding-worth project. Namely, many (not all, but many collectors) display figures, usually on shelves or etc. simply by themselves. Looking through the suggestions of what could have been "better" or could have been wanted or etc. many are suggesting other figures. However, it seems like Mattel doesn't see crowdfunding simply figures as financially worth crowdfunding. Diesel and the potential Doink are the accouterments here, meant to be bonuses to the "real" crowdfunded items that could never be sold at brick and mortar right now, which are the play set pieces. Those kinds of big ticket things are really what Mattel and the team think crowdfunded WWE items should be, only it seems like there might not be enough interest from the hardcore collectors who can afford them.
All cards on the table: I have not backed yet, but I'm leaning towards doing so.

Unless you talking more like the modern ones with the lid screen That's what im thinking, once you have the frame and the wood, you've got the base, everything else can just be cosmetic. sell packs of ring mats, ring skirts, different shows, totally customizable. Of course they will want to sell full sets to make more money but rsc used to sell a full nxt ASR, but ALSO sold mats and skirts plus that nxt pack that had yellow ropes, nxt turbbuckle pads, and branded corner posts. They made it very easy on you to buy ONE ring and swap out the rest

I get this - if I had the space I’d want to go the full whack - rolled up blue rubber mats, old school guard rails etc

I wish they'd post an update on WWE.com or Toyark to let outside fans know about the Savage being added.
