I think they might be starting to go outside of the original “top talent” plan since UE is selling so well.
Plus there aren’t a lot of available names anymore

Tatanka before Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and Seth Rollins is weird It was actually a good idea we haven't seen any of those yet. Not too long ago everyone was complaining we had too many and were shelf warming. I think it's been long enough where more people will welcome and anticipate them. |

Aren’t we only getting 14 Ultimates a year not counting crowdfunding and SDCC (8 regular, 4 Fan Takeover, 2 Legends)? Given how limited the slots are I’m fine with keeping it to only the top tier talent. I’d rather have a new UE Macho, Hogan, Warrior, etc every year or so than someone like Jim Duggan, JYD, or Hurricane.

The New generation agenda keeps being pushed…… Couldn’t be more blatant that the design team are pushing stuff they themselves personally want too. I doubt this would happen, but it would be kind of cool if they did a 4-pack of concept art attire guys (would have to be as some type of exclusive or something.) Yeah would have to be a limited run like Collectors Edition or something. I’d probably buy everyone they made. Love a Papa Shango pre-NOD, “Headcase” Mankind, Taker with Mankind mask, Biker HBK, etc. This is perfect for mattel creations. Dustin runnels had a host of concept art when he signed in 95 or so and they even tried out other gimmicks before goldust was born. |

Of course Mattel is going to push the, “this will never be released / won’t be / can’t be included in main lineups” agenda when they’re trying to sell the crowdfunding campaign to you.
I could see all of these being released, even Tatanka. They’re popular and very toyetic Legends, and with the UE line as in-demand as it is right now these will no doubt fly out the door.

No offense to anyone out there that likes new gen stuff, but figures from the Monday Night Wars would out sell them. We still haven’t gotten a WCW ponytail Lex Luger, proper WCW Bret Hart, jeans DDP, Billy Kidman (although he’s not under a contract). One of the reasons why these lines keep dying is because of the selection of characters. No idea who wants a Ultimate Edition Tatanka imo. |
