Tickle Me Elmo from the late 90s …..I remember trying to find this for a friend’s daughter & never seeing it anywhere on the shelves even in toy stores….an even more vivid memory is of everyone literally fighting over it…..wild

There are a bunch of them but the one that affected me personally was the Playmates TMNT early run April O'Neil figures. I wanted her so bad as a child and you just couldn't get her. It's my earliest memory of a toy that people would literally hound employees over and grandmas getting into fights with moms over the one April per case to buy their son or nephew or whatever.
At least, that's what my grandma said was happening. The only way I ended up getting a Series 2 April (with the orange stripes) was that I had an aunt who did just that and stood over an employee as they opened the case. This aunt had also done the same for her own grandchild, getting her one of the OG No Stripe Aprils. I was so crushed years later when I found out that figure had ended up in the trash. (She had no idea what she had.) Meanwhile, I still have my Orange Stripe April and, once I finish building my shelves, she'll be going back up on display. (Along with my Purple/Yellow April, my Movie III April and my Cavewoman April)

I think Furby were pretty hard to find at one point. I remember having to drive 45-60 minutes to a Target outside of Chicago limits in order to find decent TTL figures when the lines would update. Our stores simply didn't have anything new in stock ever. We'd drive to a "Target Greatland" (Which is what they were calling their superstores back then) and look for figures. I still remember finding that Steve Blackman TTL and going bonkers, because I couldn't find anything at my stores. It was a treat to get to go to that store and any stores that were outside about a 10-20 mile radius from where we lived. I don't know why our Toys 'R Us and KB Toys were always so understocked and behind on the releases. Another one I remember from my childhood was the Rugrat Game on PS1. Rugrats were really popular on Nickelodeon at the time, and I was trying to get the game for my brother and I. I finally found it at a Blockbuster to rent and then later that day found a KB Toys selling it, so we picked it up, but it took about 3 weeks. I can't believe that one was so hard to get. Certain Nintendo amiibo are impossibly hard to get. Older ones, select releases, etc. It's really annoying and a shame, because there's a lot of cool figures that people will never be able to add to their collection. I've stopped worrying so much about pre-orders because it seems like stores are restocking after the release, but there are still past figures that will never get a rerelease and had a really short shelf-life. Mega Yarn Yoshi was one of those. Animal Crossing for Nintendo DS (not the 3DS one) was pretty hard to find when it came out. Everyone was buying 2 copies because it was co-compatible with the other DS and maybe even possibly online in some way, I forget. But the Gamestop we would go to didn't have them in for awhile, and then we found them at a different Gamestop anyway if I remember right. It took a couple of weeks for this. The Zelda: Majora's Mask 3DS was limited and really hard to get. Target cancelled my order and I never got one. Still bummed about that.

Those limited edition Pepsi Perfect Back to the Future things were pretty hard to get and limited upon release. I do believe both screech and I got our hands on them for like $22.50 and scalped them like wolves.

Cabbage Patch Kids & the Cabbage Patch Koosas.
Pac Man for the Atari 2600. My neighbor ordered it, waited a long time to get it, paid $100 for it, only to see this:

After the new Dark side of 90s ep, seems Beanie Babies were super hard to find certain ones. That Princess Diana one was a rarity at one time.
