Wasn't it reported that he's actually still under contract? He does have a deal in place to work with them but it doesn't include merch. Once the lawsuit regarding his name and likeness was taken care of, he signed with Zombie. So because WWE merch deals are so bad, Zombie was able to swoop in and sign Jarrett for a figure and Jarrett gets to keep doing whatever he wants. If he had signed a merch deal with WWE, he would be limited in what he was able to do. Think of it as a Bruce Prichard deal. Still works for WWE, but can do whatever he wants outside to a degree. |

The fact that some no name toy company is releasing a JJ figure and not WWE/Mattel is ridiculous. WWE legends deal must really turn a lot of old timers off because seriously WWE should be able to make a better offer to the wrestlers than any other company. At the end of the day it’s us collectors that miss out.

I wonder what the terms are of a Legends/merch contract? Seems like very few past legends sign them.

He signed a deal with zombie sailor to do a knockoff Hasbro. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Mattel still couldn’t make a fig in the 6-7” scale if WWE signs him to a merch deal. RVD also has a knockoff Hasbro coming from zombie.

True Story......
Shortly after Jeff Jarrett was back with WWE, I was at a convention.... he was walking around & looking at the booths.... I was a photographer at the show;
We were standing next to a booth that had figures..... he picked up a Brian Pillman Elite & asked me "when did they make this?"
"A few years ago," I responded.... "Hey Jeff - - - how come we don't have a Jeff Jarrett Mattel yet?"
He put his arm around me (yeah, if it sounds slightly creepy, it was) - - - and said "Not..... part...... of the deal."
True story.

The thing with Jarrett is that there aren't many 'white whale' types left. We got the Savage, the Steamboat, the uh....Sharks, and more recently more Hogans and RVDs. Jarrett hasn't had a WWE figure since that cancelled prototype for DoubleSlam in the TTL days. He's a character has has many 'toyetic' looks, and after that you get the Attitude Era and WCW versions in silver shorts. There's just a lot of opportunity here to do multiple eras of him. Hopefully somebody, whether it's Mattel or Jazwares, gets the chance to start making those Double J figures.
