I was at work when I suddenly heard what sounded like a small bird chirping. I looked around and under some racks I saw it, except it looked like a rat with a long tail. I crawled in/under with my flashlight on to find this little guy,
Baby squirrel. It looks like he fell about 30 feet to the concrete. His nose was bleeding when I first found him. I kept wiping it off and eventually it looked like it stopped. At one point he was crawling up my hand trying to climb up my arm so physically he seemed okay. His eyes aren't even open yet so he didn't know where he was going.
I looked it up and it said the mother would try to find it, but i didn't think she was going to look 30 feet down under racking holding 15 thousand pounds of steel. I decided to cut a small box that was too big for him to get out, but small enough that it's mother could get in and get out. I'm hoping he'll call and she'll hear him.
There's a hole in the wall in the corner of our building that birds and squirrels have made their way through before. He was near there so I'm guessing that's where he came from. I went up there and put the box in the hole and blocked it off so it would be hard to come back through. I told him, "you didn't take that Mankind bump for nothing buddy. You hang in there."
That was about 5:30pm. I'm going in at 5am so the first thing I'm going to do is head up there and see if his family made it back to him.
Come on little buddy.

That is a nice thing for you to take care of the little dude like that. Hope he makes it, remembers you, and pops by to say hi with his future fam. Animals can imprint so it is possible. My first ferrel cat now knows his name, so anything is possible.

Thank you. You are awesome for doing that. I hope his Momma finds him. If not please take care of him. Heroes are not only heroes because they help or save humans.

If he's still there, it probably means he was abandoned. Please take him to an animal preserve.

Any update? Are you sure the bleeding wasn’t from something internally?

OH HELL YEAH!
Mini Mankind wasn't there. I was hoping he'd be gone or still walking around in the box. Just please don't be dead in the box. Please. When I got up there and grabbed the box I immediately noticed it felt lighter. When I looked in it he wasn't there. I turned on my phone flashlight and looked around in the hole to see if he was anywhere close and he wasn't.
Unless the food chain took it's course (we're not going to think about that) his mom heard/smelled/saw him and took him home. There was nobody else there (we don't start until 8) and we don't have cameras. Both benefited me because I was jumping around, fist pumping, and of course WOOOOOOOing when I got back down to the ground
The way he was reaching out and crying in my hand......... I would have been broken up had this turned out differently and would definitely of had to delete that video. I'm really happy I get to keep it. Good luck Mini Mankind. The pleasure was mine buddy.

Best wishes. I always feel sad for the animals that we as a society don’t value as much as dogs and cats, squirrels are definitely in that category. Hope this little guy’s story turns out as positive as possible.

In all seriousness though, thank you so much. Helping animals is something more people need to take the time to do. It's a saint's work.
I do Covid-19 work every day and know I'm helping people, but even if it sounds weird, I'd rather be working with animals at a shelter or something. I would be happier with myself and my life.
