Any HOF that has no criteria for membership is not a serious one and should be ignored. The WWE HOF is just a weekend event at Wrestlemania to sell 15k tickets, Beers, Hotdogs and T-Shirts.

The WWE HOF is just a weekend event at Wrestlemania to sell 15k tickets, Beers, Hotdogs and T-Shirts. it’s a weird one, because while the overall legitimacy of the HOF is zilch, the recognition to legends from fans certainly means the world to some of them. |

Look, I'm not going to really get into debates about who should or shouldn't be in various hall of fames or why.
What I will say is that both Bam Bam and Vader are of the same star quality as several other WWE HOF inductees and, in fact, their star power and legacies far outshine some of those who are in there.
Both of them feel like omissions to me, but then, The Rock also isn't in the HOF, so...

Vader should have gone in immediately when we found out about his heart condition. Period. No debate.
Bam Bam is one of the most talented big men in the history of wrestling and main evented a WrestleMania. He’s been overdue for Hall of Fame induction for at least a decade. I don’t care if it’s a gimmick to sell tickets or not, Bam Bam goes in any wrestling related Hall of Fame on Earth as far as I’m concerned.

Both deserve it, Bigelow had I think three runs and main evented a WM. Sure, they were both bigger in Japan than the States, but they put in Abdullah who literally did nothing in the WWE.
Speaking of stiff, talented Japan workers, I’d like to see Matt Bloom go in. Never a world champ, but a great trainer today and had a decent run. Not sure if we’ll ever see it, but would be nice.

Speaking of stiff, talented Japan workers, I’d like to see to see Matt Bloom. Never a world champ, but a great trainer today and had a decent run. Not sure if we’ll ever see it, but would be nice. Vader was a pretty big star in the US. Multiple time WCW World champion, main eventer in both WWE and WCW. He was never as big a star in WWE as he was in WCW but same for a lot of Hall of Famers. Plus, he he did guest star spots on multiple episodes of Boy Meets World which was a popular show in the 1990s. As far as the legitimacy or meaning of WWE Hall of Fame, you can't tell me it doesn't mean anything when we debate these picks so much and there's so much discussion and buzz every year when it comes to Hall of Fame inductions. Clearly the inductions mean something. Clearly they matter. They matter to the wrestlers and they matter to the fans. You can't tell me they don't. Legitimacy is a matter of opinion. And yet here we are debating the reputations of two late notable stars of the 1990s. Clearly, this Hall of Fame matters and means something whether you like it or not. |

If we're talking about Muta, then yeah, I agree. Understandable. Then again, he would’ve been big in Japan during his run there (the entire country, maybe even to non-wrestling fans), but unless we were living there at the time it’s hard to know how much money or media exposure that equated to. New Japan is a pretty big promotion and reaches a lot of people. But nevertheless, I totally agree that WCW and WWE did wonders for the guy. Still enjoy going back and watching the Boy Meets World episodes with him. That show was a true ‘90s classic. |
