I just got my RSC Warrior today snd I realized something. Have you noticed that we haven’t gotten a lot of figures with the more intricate face paint designs he worse in the 90s? You know the ones with a bunch of colors that are really intricately designed and not just the standard solid colors and thick paint outlines? The only figures I found with complex face paint designs are the Ultimate Maniacs DM, the Ultimate Edition, the RSC Exclusive, and Elite 26.
Growing up during the Slim Jim and Suburban Commando era of wrestling, the crazy face paint designs are more iconic to me. Was Warrior just not around as much back then?

I think it's just because the vast majority of our Warrior figures are from his 87-91 run. He has approximately 2 dozen figures across elites and basics, and the only figures we have from after 91 are: Mania 8, Ultimate Maniacs, Summerslam 92, Wrestlemania 12, Halloween Havoc and final raw (which doesn't even have face paint).

I’m sure they purposely don’t do those figs because of the cost of all the deco hits it would require.

I'll add that I think it's also because he doesn't have as many iconic looks with that face paint. They've generally gone with big matches or famous promo/poster shots, and for those it's mostly his original style paint that stands out.
I'll take any they want to do, though. I'd love one that matches his WWE(F) Magazine cover with his head next to Hulk's (Hulk is wearing camo). It's kind of orange and black. I think it was just a Photoshop job, though, cause the original photo was from his Gameboy add in purple and yellow.

There are some big PPV event versions of Ultimate Warrior we should get at some point, such as Survivor Series 88, 89 and 90. They should also do his 1996 promo with Jerry Lawler with the baseball cap and black face paint just because it's a more unique look Warrior didn't often use a lot. That could even be a Ringside exclusive variant.

I'd personally like to see some 1996 warriors. I think that's where he had the coolest attire with the multi-colored air brushed look. Perfect example, they could make his final Raw match he had vs Owen Hart. Or the attire he had at In Your House vs. Goldust

The detail on the duster is amazing. Plus, green is my favorite color. He had a lot of cool looks in 1996 that I wish they would make. I'd be okay if they were all RSC exclusives like the WM12 one was. The purple attire from KOTR96 was awesome, the orange/yellow from his final match on Raw vs Owen was great. There was also a cool blue one he wore in his first interview on Raw w/ Vince after WM12. There was also a cool yellow one in some of the promo photos they used. A lot of great choices here. As for pre-96 Warrior, I think they still need to get out Summer Slam 1991, SNME 90 vs Ted DiBiase, Survivor Series 89 (looks like his 2nd Hasbro figure), and the attire he was wearing on the WM6 promotional photo. The purple one from his match with Sgt. Slaughter. Or this rare one with the white winged eagle belt. |
