I'm sure availability factors in a fair bit too. Lots of sporting events, concerts, etc. I can't remember if it was TK or Punk, but one of them in the post show from Friday mentioned that it was a bit of a stroke of luck that the center was available the night they wanted. Punk had really wanted to do it at United, but for it to actually happen took a bit of good fortune in terms of the building even being available.
Given that you'd need a PPV like level of interest to fill the place, if it doesn't line up with when you want to do your PPV's, it just doesn't line up. Especially when you run 12 a year. Not every one of those 12 is going to justify an arena that big.

hopefully aew can jolt some life into the wwe creative with friendly competition, and we see the business return to previous heights. This is what I want. It'd be great to have interest in WWE again. I feel the same way but the product is so watered down and predictable that it would take a lot at this point to even catch my interest. I didn’t even watch SummerSlam or Takeover because everything is just so missable now. Hopefully it turns around but reading SummerSlam results didn’t make me want to watch at all

I wonder what if any effect the size of WWE's trons have in choice of arenas. Just looking locally Impact & Nitro have both been ran at the Civic Coliseum (7100 seats) and Dynamite would certainly fit there. However WWE NEVER runs RAW or SD there they always go up the street to Thompson Boiling Arena which holds 25k has sky box seating and whos tron easily fits at one end of the arena.

Because it’s a rather expensive arena to run. Plus I don’t think they would sell it out unless they ran a ppv there

This is a good point. Seating requirements or expectations are one thing, but the physical space needed to do a WWE live show (Raw, Smackdown, PPV) are a different story. They can only look at certain venues with a setup like theirs. Side note - That's one of the things that bugs me about Raw and Smackdown: these huge entrances that aren't that much smaller or are even the same as the PPVs. Vince wants everyone to think every Raw or Smackdown is epic, but it comes off as overblown and then takes away from the real epic shows. You can't even tell the difference between the shows and PPVs outside of the big four.

NXT has a new wrestler, Tony D'Angelo, an Italian mobster from Chicago. Maybe he will sellout the United center one day.
