I don't know, ask me when I've had a chance to actually see it play out some.

Just watching last night you can slowly see Entertainment creeping in. Mandy Rose will most likely have a "disfigured face" gimmick I'd wager, the whole love saga with whatsherface and Lumis, the theme they're using for the new ads seems targeted, the new logo is targeted, they'll focus on developing rookies from scratch that will be character based, etc. They are going to make NXT a VERY niche program, even more than it is now.

Welp. Since 2012, HHH has been saying NXT is the future of the WWE. I guess the future is a 3rd TV show produced by an out of touch 76 year old man.

I’m gonna be really sad if NXT just becomes third brand main roster stuff. NXT has been my go to wrestling show every week because it has just been simple layered story telling and great wrestling. It’s simple and 99% of the time it all makes sense. I really feel like Triple H, HBK, Regal, Matt Bloom, Norman Smiley, Steve Corino etc have done a tremendous job with the show the last 7-8 years.

I lost interest when the whole melodramatic looking at the hands and cutting a promo mid-match became the normal. "Look at what you're making me do" made it jump the shark. I would still jump in for TakeOvers. Then it became a match or two on each TakeOver. Finally, I just became apathetic and wrote it off. It's been just another WWE show for a while, this just seals the deal. It's wild to me though that enough time has passed that there's "glory days" for NXT. I sound like the 50+ year old fans who pine for older stuff when I say I miss peak NXT.

The final HHH-produced episode of NXT should end with HHH sitting in a diner, listening to “Don’t Stop Believing” while eating onion rings. Meanwhile Raquel Gonzalez is outside trying to parallel park and Vince walks in wearing a ‘Members Only’ jacket. Show then cuts to black.

Ha ha ha I get it!
Maybe Johnny Gargano can sit at the table with Triple H and Shawn and say, "We are NXT" and Triple H can say, "where did you get that from??" and Johnny can say, "You, you said it one time."

Hunter: “Heh, I guess I did.” *eats an onion ring*

Ultimately, it remains to be seen. It hasn't really started yet.

i've only watched the TakeOvers since some time in 2017. Because i got sick of the show and didn't like it anymore. has it been any good since 2018? IMO NXT kind of hit a lull in 2017, trying to find its footing again after Joe, Nakamura, Balor, Zayn, Owens left. 2018 through right up until the 2020 Pandemic NXT was absolutely on fire. Guys like Gargano, Ciampa, Black, Cole, etc… put on masterful feuds and hit home runs when it came time for the Takeover payoff. To me it really was a perfect group of guys/gals that each brought something different to the table and really made you feel emotion. Gargano was the heart and soul, Ciampa was the despised and dastardly villain, Velveteen brought charisma, Cole and UE brought arrogance and desperation, Lee brought size and athleticism, Riddle was a wild card, Ricochet brought aerial artistry, etc… but each feud that they were put in, no matter their dance partner they always seemed to deliver. I cant think of many Takeover matches during that time that I dont consider favorites. I often wonder how the final Gargano/Ciampa match in their feud would have played out had in been live. In no way shape or form do I feel like the ending we got was the one that was planned. In all honesty though shortly after they moved to the no audience/pandemic format, everything seemed to fall apart. It hasn’t felt like NXT to me in quite some time. Focus on one-dimensional guys like Kross. Even though most of this forum seems to gush over guys like Kyle O’Reilly I just dont see it, dude has had 4 or 5 chances now against guys like Balor and Cole, who always deliver, and every one of those matches just feels emotionless. It fails to make me believe this guy could go anywhere further than where he is. Spot monkeys like MSK as tag champs, seemingly new people every week that I cant honestly keep up with (I can name maybe 2 or 3 women left in that division and I know there’s been like 15 introduced in the last few months), guys like Ciampa who once were main eventing are now barely used (seemingly because they wanted nothing to do with the main roster and who could blame them). The once emotion filled stories are now replaced by the lazy writing such as “when you lose you’ll be my butler” (actually used twice in the same feud). It just feels like going through the motion as opposed to guys and girls just a few years earlier who once put on spectacles that would outshine Wrestlemanias in the same weekend arguably 3 out of 4 years from 2016 to 2019 (Ill give Mania 33 the 2017 nod over Takeover Orlando). Whether anyone named Vince wants to own up to it or not, losing the Wednesday Night Wars to AEW ruined NXT. Apologies for the long rant, I’ve felt a certain way about NXT lately and needed somewhere to put it. To sum up though if you’re a fan of good storytelling, solid action, emotion in feuds then I would def recommend checking out 2018 to early 2020 NXT.

Be better than anything Vince has thought up the past few year.

What are we basing this on? A logo? I'll watch at least a couple of episodes before deciding. Same goes for me

While I'm not a fan of HHH I do feel bad that he's being eased out of NXT which was his wrestling baby and something he put so much time and attention in to and also he and Stephanie most likely will not be the next generation of McMahon's running the company.

Corporate indie NXT was screwed when AEW started. For a few years before that, NXT somehow convinced the smarkiest Fed-haters that subscribing to the WWE Network to watch it was somehow sticking it to Vince, as though the subscription fees were going into the sarcastic account. It’s wild that that delusion lasted as long as it did. When AEW launched, with the similar indie vanilla midget no-sell spotfest flip flip workrate style but WITHOUT being owned by the Vin Man, NXT was no longer the darling “alternative” to WWE.
And NXT’s focus on being the king of the indies for years was a detriment to the development of stars. Cole, Black, Balor etc are never going to be difference-makers. The only male NXT wrestlers in the last few years who have ever looked like they could be called up and become top stars are Drew McIntyre, Keith Lee, Riddle, Damien Priest and Velveteen Dream, pretty much. And in Lee’s case, that was more down to how good they made him look at the Survivor Series in 2019 rather than what he’d been doing in NXT before that. I guess of the guys that are still there, Austin Theory and LA Knight are possibilities.
The change in direction is overdue. They don’t need anymore Ciampas, Garganos, O’Reillys. They need another Cena, Batista, Orton, Lesnar, Reigns, Charlotte, Bayley, Bliss, Rousey, Angle, Big E, The Rock.

It was really fun and a great product from '14-'19 but the last two years fell off.But in terms of if it was a success or failure in terms of creating new main event caliber male talent its clearly a failure,in terms of the women's side of things clearly a huge success.
For the male side they really didn't create any true long term main event caliber talent on the main roster. The Shield guys were basically FCW talents and Rollins had a bit of a name coming out of ROH.Besides those three the WWE hasn't created any long term main event draws or talent in the past decade baring Punk & Bryan who also had nothing to do with NXT.
The women's side is the real bright spot with Charlotte,Banks,Bayley,Ripley,Belair,Bliss...ect bring the women's side of wrestling into a much different light.
