I like the old way a lot more. True fx has tons of QC issues, the eyes always look pixelated, half the time most of the sculpt isn’t painted, for example true fx rarely paints all of the beard. Obviously the sculptor included that part of the sculpt for a reason and it should be painted. Sometimes it looks like some of the dudes are wearing makeup (kinda like HOC billy Gunn)

I’m sitting here with three elites: two of the greatest heads that Mattel ever did (Boneyard Taker and Legends 11 Bigelow) and one of the bottom 5 (possibly bottom three) that they’ve ever done (Legends 11 Scott Barbie Hall). When True FX is done right it’s incredible. That said, when it’s done wrong, or if it doesn’t take, it’s pretty bad. I guess I’d say True FX is better. There are some tremendous non True FX heads, but the best of those don’t equal the best of True FX.

They don’t always get it right but when they do it’s much better than flat paint

I love True FX. It did wonders for the Star Wars Black Series line, too. They do look a little blurry at a macro level, sometimes even 'pixely', but the pros outweigh the cons. Figures at this price range never looked this realistic before in the face.

It could just be me, but seeing older figures next to true fx ones looks more cartoonish. Granted there are and will continue to be bad exceptions (legends hall, elite trish, most Bret Harts), the most amazing scans we’ve seen in recent years (Bam Bam and Kama come to mind) all utilized this technology well

Been collecting Mattel since day 1, and True FX creates a ton more likeness hits then the old way created misses. QC stinks sometimes but I’ll take that over 7 Dolph zigglers in a row not looking a thing like him

Guess I always got lucky wit the headscans then, cause I don’t really have a bad true fx headscan out of the new ones that I got, which are Christian, Karrian kross, Vader, bam bam, ddp, L9 undertaker, L10 Cena, Scott hall, macho man (chase ) and BJS.
