Big E won't be that big draw WWE needs to compete with AEW.

Wasn't a fan of Kofi as champion and I'm not a fan of Big E either. WWE is still going to take a big hit on ratings with NFL and AEW on.

Like Big E and been a fan of his and New Day for years but with his current character and career so far just don't see him as a legit main eventer or guy who should have had a WWE Title win or run.Same boat for the likes of Kofi,Mahal,Miz...ect guys are talented but just scream mid card to me.
With that said hopefully they give him a legit run as champion to see if he can get and stay over and don't just cut his legs out from under him as WWE badly needs main event talents right now,and talents that are fresh in that upper mix.
Maybe you have Kofi turn heel on him leading to Wrestlemania and book either a triple threat between the New Day for the title or a straight up Big E Vs Kofi match with Woods caught in the middle or as the actual referee for the match up.

Just proves E, as much as people like him, is not a needle mover. Except that it doesn't prove that. Now admittedly he isn't a needle mover, because no one is a needle mover. That's the way the company is designed now, and has been for some time. They want the company itself to be the needle mover, not a single star. They've very open about that, and I think in terms of long term health they're correct to be. Those once in a generation needle movers like the Rock are great, but you can't manufacture them, and you can't rely on them. Tiger with Golf, Lebron with Basketball, etc. You can take advantage of them when they come along, but you can't have your business model be based on them existing. So yeah, Big E is definitely not a needle mover, but this rating isn't an indication of that. They're separate things. The rating decline from the prior week is entirely due to MNF. There isn't a single move WWE can make that will prevent a decline from opening week of Monday Night Football. I don't even think the Rock coming back would prevent it. Football is too big. Like I said elsewhere I'd be really interested to see the relative decline this RAW compared to past years RAWS on opening week MNF, but really can't use that as an example that Big E can't draw.

Question...
So if Big E doesn't have the star power that WWE need for ratings, why do you think they put the title on him?

WCW Nitro was still doing mid 2's when it was cancelled...

While I like Big E, he spent 9 years on the mid card. He lost at wrestlemania in his home town. Never got his comeuppance against Apollo. From a casual viewers perspective, why should they get invested in a guy who capitalized on Lashley when he was vulnerable. Doesn’t make much sense.

Congrats to Big E. I hope he gets a decent run.
Easily one of the best RAW moments in forever.

Big E has earned this opportunity, and I'm convinced WWE did the right thing. Crowds have made it clear that they weren't enthusiastic about Goldberg's return, and Lashley is 45. He's got to be looking for the door sooner rather than later. What else could the company have done other than go with a younger, fresher star? I'll agree that it wasn't booked well leading up to the cash-in, but there have also been hints, like the Snickers commercial, that WWE wanted more for Big E. Is he a needle-mover? That remains to be seen, but the crowds are definitely behind him right now.
