Goldberg losing to Nash basically led to the death of WCW. If you look at the ratings, Raw was winning but it wasn't by a wide margin. I would say WCW was still competitive in ratings up until March of 99. SuperBrawl in February 99 is one of the highest buy rates in WCW history and higher than Starrcade 98 from December when Golderg-Nash took place. WCW still had something people wanted to see...until April of 99 and then by May of 99 WWF was almost doubling WCW ratings.

Following up on the Goldberg/ Nash subject too. Something I don’t think people that didn’t watch at the time consider either is that, by then, each time Goldberg won it was like, Damn, I wanted to see him lose. You kinda knew it was inevitable at that point, my wrestling alarm was going off even as a kid, like ok, the narrative before was Goldberg’s chase to the belt. Now the narrative is, who will beat Goldberg? So by design, the story was beating him by then.
Also, this was 1999. We ordered maybe 3 ppvs a year haha, I was around 10, yes I had to ask my parents to watch PPV and even if I had enough money saved up, again, this is 1999. We had 1 tv with the capabilities to even order PPV, so even if I had the money, that didn’t mean my parents were gonna go do something else for 3 hours on a Sunday night so I could watch PPV. Point being, when I got to watch a WCW PPV at that time, I damn sure wanted it to be the one we’re I saw Goldberg lose on it!
(I did not see it live, I was watching more WWF by then but I did read about it in my WCW Magazine & was happy Nash was the guy to best him 😆)
I hope you enjoyed this trip back to 1999

The only 2 good wrestling shows on US TV that year were WCW Saturday Night and ECW Hardcore TV.

Not A LOT happened..off the top of my head it’s most remembered for me as the year Owen died & the ‘99 Royal Rumble (which at the time I HATED because Austin lost to McMahon but in retrospect it’s one of my favorite Rumbles 😅) By years end though, ugh, WWF becomes the HHH/ Stephanie show which was unbearable and the second Austin was removed as the focus of the show, you really see it unravel. Without Austin, the WWF was lost. Rock could have carried the ball but you can see that backstage politics we’re keeping him from getting the ball entirely until 2000. and WCW was just continuing its decent from ‘97 with the same guys doing the same stuff that worked 2 years ago. So yea, I agree, 1999 was the transitional champion of the Attitude Era years. ECW was good though, I agree with that.

St Valentine’s Day Massacre was an all timer PPV though 😋 did you really like that PPV or are you joking? I know a bunch of people use to rave about it so much so that I bought it on VHS but I never really cared for it, even at that time. Big Show coming over was anything but a good thing, at that time he was considered the laziest out of shape wrestler, when we went to WWF I remember thinking, why?? Why do they want him? lol The WCW fans were roasting the WWF fans at school that Monday lol, I remember that

Goldberg losing to Nash basically led to the death of WCW. WCW initially saw an increase in weekly viewers in the weeks following the Finger Poke of Doom. Fans wanted to see Goldberg get revenge and end the nWo once and for all. Instead, we got another Hogan/Flair feud, and once Goldberg beat Hall and Nash, he was all of a sudden booked in a nothing-feud with Rick Steiner of all people. This is when WCW’s downfall truly started (though they had been trying to jumpstart it for a while by that point).
