Has anyone been playing any of the non-affiliated wrestling games that have come out recently? There are probably a bunch more but the two I’m thinking of are:
RetroMania (WrestleFest homage), which I was quite excited about but the roster is really off-putting to me. I think I’d have preferred if it was LoD and a bunch of cartoony fictional wrestlers made up for the game.
Action Arcade Wrestling, which possibly is/was involved with Chikara in some way. Looks like some really good CAWs but the gameplay seems pretty wacky.
Anyone got any recommendations? I’ve never liked the MDickie games because of how stupid they were, although in recent years I’ve heard they’re fun.

While I’ve looked at both games in Microsoft store and watched some gameplay videos, I haven’t pulled the trigger on either one. I’ve heard that the nostalgia wears off very quickly with RetroMania. Heard that action arcade is fun with friends but is a bit lacking when it comes to consoles. If I had the spare cash, I’d probably just get a used PS4 and fire pro personally. I may keep an eye out for the action arcade game to go on sale and give it a shot then.

I'd say Wrestling Empire or Showdown: Legends of Wrestling. I'm super partial to Showdown, as it came out when I was still a kid and had such a deep roster. I didn't care that it was glitchy, I just knew I could have all sorts of matches I couldn't in the WWE games.

Retromania isn’t bad but wish it played more like WrestleFest. I think that was the original intent then it seems like they felt they needed to add a more timing based control system. And even tho it’s trying to be a sequel to WrestleFest it doesn’t look or feel like a successor to it. Ignoring the roster it’s still inferior in about every way. All that being said, it’s not a bad game and there is some fun to be had playing it. The story is ok enough. There’s a diverse roster where anyone should be able to find someone they enjoy playing as.

I remember my brother begging my Mom for the Mdickie game back on PC and it was so awful we delete it lol. How is that game still around but my beloved AKI wrestling games can’t get made?
