I hope @vintagefig1 would be open to some constructive feedback.
I really like the show a lot. But they do talk down to their fans. The tone they use, for example, when explaining stuff about pre-orders etc -- is really demeaning. No one wants to be spoken to that way.
I enjoy the show a lot -- and hope that makes it easier for them to consider...

They still haven't sold out of their limited wrestling buddies they put up Friday -- and they haven't been hyping much online, so it doesn't seem like they are close to.
I wonder if they'll scale back their merchandise, which I think would be an improvement for the podcast. I'd still like to attend a live show personally -- and still would like to support them.

I don’t buy anything from them. To me their stuff is just bootleg items and will never be counted as a official item. I did enjoy the figure hunting episodes they did a year or two ago on YouTube (I don’t even know if they still do that?)

The only figures announced that interested me were Conrad and Danhausen…but then I found out they will ONLY be selling these as sets. That basically killed it for me. Maybe I’ll pick one up someday on eBayhausen.
I’m curious about the price point for these. If they do a set of 4, I can’t imagine them selling for less than $50. Not knowing the actual financial details, $40 a set seems more reasonable but I also am not a big enough fan of the style to pay more than $10 a figure. That doesn’t mean they won’t sell or that it doesn’t cost more…I’m just saying that is the maximum value to me as an individual.

I'd imagine Bendies would be minimum $15 a figure -- maybe $20

It probably costs a ton to produce a high quality product/packaging and still make a profit. I don’t doubt that for a second nor blame them if they charge $15 to $20 a figure. It’s just more than I’m willing to spend when the market is flooded with so much good stuff (tons of Retros and 7” scale figures). As a figure fan, I find what they are doing to be really cool. I loved the Bendies style figures as a kid (collected all of them up until the last couple of series). So even if I choose not to collect, I want to see these succeed and see what they come out with.

I've never owned a Bend'em if I'm being honest, so these aren't for me. I think with this line it'll do well with the backing of their fans though, they've built a brand so fair play to them. I know they aren't for everyone, but they do put more eyes on the hobby so they're all good for that. I am interested to see what guys and gals they end up signing and making, if it's just their friends/people shown on their vlogs then it'll be only their fans that buy them. I don't know if a collector is really interested in a Kanik Bend'em.

On the Talk is Jericho podcast Matt said that they will be doing Headbangers, Gangrel and Nick Gage. All have potential imo, though I am not down for this whole set buying.

Definitely some opportunities there to "expand" the vintage Bend'ems line with guys who were around then. They made Edge, no but no Gangrel or Christian, no Headbangers. I know there are a lot more. I'm down for just about anything if they look good. |
