There certainly is a lot coming out - it’s hard to keep up at times

Ginger Sid Justice really pisses me off. Especially when there was a run change, so now I see all these pristine blonde Sids on the shelves and I'd stuck with this damn red head. Can't justify $20 for a different hair color and I'm not a crappy enough person to figure swap, so I'm stuck with this red headed Eudy.

For some reason Mattel are making so many mistakes at the moment. Does anyone think there’s too much product and they’re rushing things through? I’m sure more mistakes/crap choices are happening these days. Just off the top of my head - - Vince elite being as tall as Hogan- Roddy Piper face and wrong kilt - Million Dollar Man being as short as Rey Mysterio- Rocky Johnson too dark skin tone - Razor Ramon yellow details on attire instead of gold - Sgt Slaughter jacket too short - Bret WCW salmon - Bret Face - Bret hair - painted skin on almost all singlet elites compared to molded 4-5 years ago. - Kane Ultimate edition painted arm! - Undertaker legends short hair at the front. - Paul Orndorf too tall (original legends was perfect - why change?)- Macho man Legends lazy triangle cut purple shirts. When I look back at older figures - like original legends, it just looks like more care was put in. Maybe I’m in the minority but I’d actually prefer less product at a higher quality. These figures aren’t cheap especially as most people internationally are paying £40+ off eBay for legends figures. What does everyone else think? All good points but these are the ones that really piss me off. How do you screw up the height of guys? That Vince was a fig I wanted for years, until I got it. He looks like he’s on stilts, that’s how bad it is. I had to put his head on an extra Mean Gene body. It’s a jakks level botch. And you’re spot on with your take on Bret Hart. The jakks classic series Bret Hart with a 5 o’clock shadow that he never came to the ring with thinks his Mattel likeness sucks.

Oh here's another one, ripped and muscular bobby Heenan.
Weasel suit heenan having those awful unpainted cloth legs.
I just kind kind of wish they used a different torso sculpt for Gorilla Monsoon as well.

For someone with 100’s of figures I don’t notice too many issues to be honest. The ones that I really did notice are
Rhyno arms. I know that’s design, but who approved that? Bret painted torso on the wcw Bret. Totally different colors. Kane’s arm. This is awful. Cannot pass that off as an ultimate.
Having said that, it’s a pretty small list for me who has 90% of the legends figures they have ever released.
My Ultimate April O’Neill from Neca cannot stand up and Casey Jones had an arm stuck that snapped upon opening, so it’s not like it’s not a common kind of thing to have some issues.
Overall I’m happy with Mattel, but I will say they could speak up on something like this Kane arm and own it a bit.

Bumping this thread instead of creating a new one:
The QC is really getting more and more poor, huh? I received my chase E92 Cole from RSC yesterday. Upon opening it, I found multiple black marks on his arm, his shoulders and one of his elbow joints were stiff (this seems to be common on figures that I open and I’m worried each time that I’ll accidentally break it trying to get it unstuck), and there’s some sort of like broken or ripped plastic on his inner right leg near his crotch. It’s just really getting old, especially now that the retail prices are going up. I paid $38 for this figure. I realize that’s RSC not Mattel, but even the at least $22-$24 (or more in some places) the retail cost would be, it should still be better than this. Raising the prices yet lowering the quality. Gotta love it.

Search this forum for "quality control" and you will see this topic repeated over and over every few months since the begining. Its a tale as old as time.

I also wonder if Mattel ever changed the quality of their plastic? I was wondering that for a couple of years because I found that slot of my early elites didn’t get neck/shoulder strains when heating the plastic with a dryer. New elites all get some sort of neck strain/separation immediately after swapping.
I also wonder why we can’t get a pair of unique boots for elite Shawn Michaels? He didn’t wear regular kick pads.

Bought the Elite Bronson Reed before christmas, when it came in his right arm was "seized" in place. No amount of heating would move it. Even to the point that it looked like it was about to rip from the joint. RSC was nice enough to swap with a replacement. When I finally got it there's paint defects all over it. Its not RSC fault so I wont be asking them about it but its getting to be a joke that Mattel keeps having these issues. Im to the point I want to rip packages open in store first to check.

I only get basics and the odd attire choices and lack of deco on attires at the moment is really starting to grate with me.
I get it with figs like the fluoro yellow/grey Rey as you can’t include all of the detail he had on a basic but you can pick enough to keep the look of the original attire in tact but choices/omissions on stuff like b121 Kane (no silver details, weird Kane logo on glove) and Austin 2 pack Kane (no silver details) just annoy me.
I’ve noticed it the most with the championship 2 pack figures recently, they look like first factory samples they are so devoid of detail. Then you get stuff like the new Bobby fish that’s got a lot of different colours and logos and it leaves you scratching your head. Why can Fish get all that stuff but a Kane basic can’t get silver stud details?
Then there’s what seems like the complete lack of legends recently and a heavy focus on painted on skin tight shirts and street gear and I’m close to calling it quits all together. We haven’t even got a basic current edge in wrestling gear.
Bit fed up at the mo with this hobby.

That list is a bit padded on my eyes, but I’m not too harsh on this stuff.
Unless the scale is way out I don’t really notice.
The ones lately that are inexcusable are definitely Kane, Hogans stubble, the painted on flesh not matching the limbs and the height of Vince.
2 of those 4 are ultimates and we shouldn’t be told oh it’s a mistake but it’s too late to fix it on an ultimate in my view.

I’m just upset with it. It seems to be a constant issue nowadays and they just give the same excuses of budget or “it wasn’t caught in time to fix”. It’s bullsh*t. They make us pay high prices for cheap sh*t and just throw in an extra pair of hands instead of fixing real goddamn issues. Especially now with “inflation” making these figures go up even more. They’re like $22.49 at one of my Walmarts and some Targets are charging as much as $26.99. It’s ridiculous and needs to be addressed if we’re going to have to pay more. It’s nothing but ing corporate greed trying to save a few pennies every quarter. Mattel is a multi-billion dollar company. You’re telling me they can’t fix a few issues and make a better product?

Total speculation, but I wonder if the factory situation has changed. When Mattel did massive layoffs a few years back they also sold factories they owned. Maybe they're leasing factory time instead of using site that they own? Production issues seem to hit and miss for me, but they've been far too frequent. My Bob Orton had his arm seized in place, and I had to heat water multiple times before it finally loosened up enough to move. For a product they just raised the price on, that's ridiculous.

Sadly I gotta agree.. I think Mattel (5-10 years ago’s quality) blows AEW’s line out of the water. However with them slacking it’s not so one sided and I am spending more on them than Mattel lately

It looks more like its the design team that make the errors for most of these complaints. Let's take Farooq for instance. His APA skin tone was WAY too dark. Then when his WCW figure was released he came with a skin tone that better resemble the real Farooq.
The design team make great choices for the most part in their figures... When they get it wrong, its SUPERBAD!

Ignoring the face sculpt (Let’s face it Mattel are never going to get Bret right), look at the quality of this figure. It’s far superior to Brets we get now. 1. Molded skin torso 2. Accurate size hearts 3. Leg graphic on the side instead of wrapped around the whole leg. 4. Singlet pink outer paint application flawless.

For pure design it HAS to be rhyno That’s absolutely obvious to every person who sees it
