Surely AEW hasn't been around long enough for someone's contract to expire?

Not really. The closest thing is that a couple of jobbers wrestled on both AEW and NXT/WWE programming on the same night, but they werent under contract to either company.

Bea Priestley, though I think Visa issues played a large role

If any AEW guys go to the WWE it will probably be someone like Matt Hardy when his contract expires. Just so he can get that WWE Hall of Fame pay check with Jeff when they get inducted.

Hobbs, Brian Cage, Wardlow, Christian Cage, Matt Hardy, and maybe Ogogo and Comorato. Basically the big guy, and ones wanting a last dance. I could see MJF and Starks wanting to try their hands there, due to the mic work, but we sure don't want to lose any of these guys.
For females, maybe Deeb. She is so technical that she may want a shot at Charlotte, or Tessa (rumored).

^^Wardlow had a tryout and didn't get picked, and was very critical of the process in an interview. Ogogo could go, though he did allegedly turn them down to choose AEW. Comorato was an ex-PC signing for AEW, so he got fired from WWE. Likewise, Deeb got fired from WWE and they only wanted her as a coach.
Tessa is not WWE. She signed a contract to be the figurehead female wrestler for WOW, which is relaunching with AJ Lee as a producer and commentator.

Though it seems my post turned to spoiled milk at light speed, I will say that WWE tends to retry with folks when they are established elsewhere, or seasoned, if you will, which could bypass some of the earlier issues. Not saying that any of this will happen, just my opinion of whom they would like to have and could try for.

You're definitely correct they tend to retry folks. Very recent example, LA Knight/Eli Drake. Drew McIntyre may be the best current example of exactly that.

I am all for keeping previous names, but how was he going to succeed when his name is a direct reference to TNA?

MJF could be the first but he'd have to decide how watered down he wants to become. Darby has an outside chance but he'd have to become more corporate. Wild cards: Jungle Boy, Sammy, and Hangman. I honestly think that no one respects WWE anymore. Money isn't an issue. So it's all about if you want to branch out your name to bigger things.

If they are smart they will stay put in AEW.. Many reasons but I fully believe Vince is so vindictive he will 1) make an example out of the first few JUST to prove a point… history would Repeat itself. And 2) they are going to give up any creative freedom and input together a their character. No feedback will be heard just a script from the yes men.

Other than MJF, Kenny Omega and Hikaru Shida, I dont see the WWE being interested in anyone from AEW especially with all the roster cuts they do every few months. They are also looking for guys 6'2"+, 230+ lbs, 19-28 years old and there arent too many guys like that in AEW.

Kylie Rae signed then went to Impact Ben Carter had a Dark match or 2, then signed with NXT UK (who interestingly haven't really been affected by the roster cuts recently Sadie Gibbs straight up retired

Wrestlers don’t belong in Connecticut.
