That's why they need to focus a little more on legends They got that rerelease line, i mean legends. So that counts right ? Billy Gunn is totally on the same level of hulk hogan, ric flair, harley race right ? No, but I'd say he's on the same level as Greg Valentine and Junkyard Dog. |

I'm afraid that the ongoing layoffs will make Mattel more reticent about producing more niche talents and take a "Top Picks" approach to the entire line.
Of course that plan wouldn't be foolproof since WWE is willing to release marquee names like Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt. Hopefully this issue was raised during the companies' license renewal negotiations.

Didn’t WWE sign Cody to a merch deal after they granted him his release because they had a lot of Stardust merchandise in the pipeline? I wonder if they’ll do that with Windham.

The people thinking this will get us more legends figures are gonna have a field day when we get more Roman's, Drew Mcintyre's and Bobby Lashley's instead Since all 3 of them have been around a while put them in the legends line before it ends. Its not like mattel is gonna put any more new legends in there line. 1 aka Greg Valentine is enough. |

The thing with guys like Cena and Roman is that there are always going to be new young collectors who want the guys they see on tv. You think anyone under the age of 20 gives a flying  about Hercules Hernandez or Konnan? No they want the top wrestler in the WWE right now. They want big stars like Cena and The Rock. They want the four horsewomen. |

To be fair, the legends line could easily have re-releases of earlier in-demand figures and they'd still fly off the shelves.
I dont think they're under contract anymore, but if they stuck Ax and Smash in (with perhaps mildly different facepaint) they'd sell out rapidly fast. They've already moulded them/their accessories, so they don't have that expense again, and by having the figures fly off the shelves and not sit there for months on end like some other wrestlers will, it looks like a more in-demand product for the shops that carry the line, too.
You'll always have the casual person that'll pick up a Hogan figure for the lolzeroonies, but certain other characters are much more popular than they have any right to be. Akeem is on eBay at over €600! Re-release him and he's guaranteed to sell again. Or if Mattel are afraid of releasing the same people over and over, start a legends 2-pack line and put LOD, Demolition, Twin Towers, Natural Disasters, etc. out in that format. Surely that's a guaranteed money spinner?

From what we can ascertain, there's been discussion about the company signing him to some sort of deal similar to their Legends deal, which would allow the company to release merchandise, etc. using his likeness. It may be that they had Stardust, etc. material coming out from a third-party (a Mattel action figure, for example) and offered him a deal so legally, they can move forward with that. |

I’m more concerned for the video game. That roster will be pretty lean. I hope they’ll add more Legends to the game to make up for it, but I doubt they will. And I don’t really like mixing up Legends and modern talent because I’m OCD about that stuff. Its hilarious to me. I just KNOW 2k trying to do that bull crap road to somewhere mode where it's ALL garbage!. Hasn't been good since road to WrestleMania think 2k14? This prevents them making or adding to that stupid re live mode that if I wanted to God dam re live the moment I'll make a god damn exhibition match. STOP WASTING RESOURCES ON GARBAGE MODES, FIX UNIVERSE MODE, AND OR ADD A GM MODE. NOBODY CARES FOR THAT HIGHLIGHT BULL CRAP. END RANT. Sorry, got a wee bit carried away for my anger towards 2k. |
