We already know AEW has a rather sizable roster. Even with Dark and Elevation (which also showcases indie talent), there's just not enough room for everyone on Dynamite and Rampage. They have a ranking system, but honestly they don't use it properly or promote it at all.
So ... WWE just fired a few names, and ROH is about to release some great names. AEW should think of picking some up, right?
Are you fine with their current system? Would you make any changes to it? How would you like to see the future of AEW look?
Me? I'd do something very unpopular. I'd cut ties with the likes of: Aaron Solo, Alan Angels, Angelico, Anthony Ogogo, Chavo Guerrero, Colt Cabana, Dustin Rhodes, Frankie Kazarian, Fuego Del Sol, Griff Garrison, Jack Evans, Jeff Parker, Joey Janela, Kip Sabian, Lee Johnson, Luther, Marko Stunt, Matt Hardy, Matt Lee, Matt Sydal, Michael Nakazawa, Nick Comoroto, Peter Avalon, QT Marshall, Serpentico, Shawn Dean, Shawn Spears, Sonny Kiss, and Stu Grayson.
Some of those names could go back to the indies now with their name "more known" thanks to AEW.
But basically ... trim the fat. Then you sign the ROH and WWE big names (also possibly Steen and O'Reilly) and you have a STACKED roster that puts on nothing but GREAT matches weekly.
And fix the damn rankings and make it "legit".

Just keep sailing with what we have. Let the day oners shine like they are setting the stage for. Maybe let some of the new releases get guest spots like Gage and Cobb had, except Danhausen (he should be AEWhausen), but let us build back the indie scene, where they can still do good money and have exposure. That could springboard some companies into tv deals, possibly. Honestly, XPW is returning too, and RB has money, even though he is, well Rob Black.

I would release Yuka Sakazaki In all seriousness though as easy as it is to say "I'd replace Matt Sydal with Bandido" or whatever you still need (lower) mid-carders to be the jobbers to the top stars. I mean you get rid of all of those guys and you have no one left to take falls, unless everyone's going to hover around .500.

Tony khan probably feels like a figure collector w too many pre orders in right now Ive always had a similar analogy. From 2015-2019, the WWE was collecting every figure and now they are selling their collection. AEW who had a modest collection is now looking to buy the WWE's collection, or at least the figures they dont want.

I didn’t see anyone on the list that would make a mark outside of Lee. I think they can find room for one more person on the roster
but yeah, in the next year I imagine we’ll see some of the development talent bussed out to impact, mlw, nwa etc

Heels and Faces are so grey area now. Jobbers are not needed. If you have all elite talent, you get all elite matches every single time. Gee, would I rather watch Bandido vs Jungle Boy or Peter Avalon vs Jungle Boy? Let me think.

One thing I want to say straight off is that there’s not a single person I’d take from the recent releases, at least not now.
I’m not about saying ‘xxxx needs to be fired’ either.
So far I really like a lot about how AEW does business. I love the slow-burn storytelling whether it’s intentional or not. I like not throwing everything at the wall every week and allowing guys and gals to do other things from week to week without pigeonholing them into a program that can’t be deviated from. A good example is Hardy/OC. The feud is on hold for now, but still very much active. I like that Hardy hasn’t been attacking OC every week, but is still present. I like how the Pinnacle is a thing, but they don’t have to be constantly linked. We know they’re associated.
That said, there is likely some house cleaning that can stand to be done. There are guys and gals that aren’t really ever going to be anything, and there are plenty of jobbers to go around already. I like how they have so many shows to feature talent. That said, some of the roster likely never will have a place on television. AEW has a good amount of world class talent at their disposal. Some of the OGs that are a few tiers below that may be better if revisited in a few years.
In short, categorize wrestlers in terms of what they can offer overall. Once you get to the lower end of that spectrum, figure out who stays and who goes. Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler likely aren’t going anywhere.

There’s no reason to do mass firings the way Connecticut does. TK only signs people he wants on the roster. Unless they do something to get fired, the more likely case is that someone’s contract expires and they’re just re-signed.
This doesn’t just go for the OP, but too many people look at wrestling through a WWE lens as the only way to do things.

A lot of those lower-mid card people have secondary roles in the company, and don't really need to wrestle very often to justify their contracts. Cutler is far from the only two-contract Cutler in the biz. Like we almost never see Luther wrestle anymore, but he also does stuff behind the scenes. Serpentico does Spanish commentary now. The Captain takes care of a lot of the bookings for the extras. Dustin leads training seminars with the whole female roster, etc, etc. Not everyone on the AEW roster page is working as a full time wrestler. Lots are on part time contracts where they shift in and out every few months, and lots have secondary contracts for work on the business side of things. The amount of wrestlers sitting in catering doing nothing and collecting a cheque is very close to zero. The list might just be Brian Cage lol.

I feel bad for a lot of the AEW stars who got signed, and are just stuck wrestling on the YouTube shows. I haven't watch a YouTube show yet. It's not that I don't want to, but with WWE Raw on Monday, NXT on Tuesday, Dynamite on Wednesday, IMPACT on Thursday and Friday with Smackdown and Rampage on, it just feels like way too much wrestling already to consume, to let alone watch hours and hours of YouTube matches from AEW with wrestlers I have no clue as to who they are.

I'd make a heap of releases now that Covid is behind us.
Aaron Solo, Griff Garrison, Joey Janela, Kip Sabian, Luther, Marko Stunt, Sonny Kiss, Serpentico, Penelope Ford.

Well they just brought in Jay Lethal last night and in less then six months have now brought in Andrade,Black,Bryan,Cole,Fish,Lethal & Punk.Thats a lot of talent that needs or should be need to be booked in the upper mid card or main event scene.
Some cuts are just going to have to be made.I would cut The Factory,Dark Order(baring John Silver),Kiss,Sabin...ect and even a few bigger named talents like Cage & Archer(both talents that should be used in the upper or main event scene but just don't have that spot open in AEW)
even looking at the roster and cutting a bunch of name still end up with over 50 active male wrestlers I would keep, which is still a very big roster even with two TV shows and their lower tier shows.
