Wait did you tell your girlfriends mom her cooking sucks? MAJOR CRINGE For sure. Might as well go their buddies' Thanksgiving so they can discuss another Hogan figure bidding war. Hopefully it's not at a restaurant where there's a noisy child so they don't have to leave after saying something to the kid's parents.

Well you can always invite the employee you wanted to get fired for talking on the phone and not pulling the figures you wanted to see Ghostbusters with you. Sort of an olive branch. And maybe you can go to your buddy’s toy shop on Thanksgiving to help him with the bidding war on his new UE Hogan figure. Seriously though if you don’t like what her family is serving there’s a few things you can do. First you can always offer to bring some of the sides you like so her mother doesn’t have to do more. Or you can go just to be with her and her family for a couple of hours. Or finally just stay home. There’s been plenty of family gatherings on both my side of the family and my wife’s where I decided I didn’t want to deal with the drama and I just stayed home. Ya know, when PJ (the nicest person on the board) comes in and rags on you...its just time to delete your account. You have literally nobody on your side.

This Thanksgiving is a tough one as last year my Father-in-Law went back in the hospital the day after and then passed on Dec 7 from Covid (which he caught we he went back into the hospital) So it’s the first Thanksgiving for my wife, daughter and in-laws without him.

Seriously. You had the option in your made up story to go with "That doesn't work for me, brother" and you opted not to!? What kind of a Hulk fan(atic) are you anyways?

Oh man Im sorry about that. I remember you telling me about him passing but I didnt realize it was around the holiday time. Holidays are the hardest times after losing family members. Christmas Eve still doesnt seem "normal" to me even 4 years after my grandmother's passing. My condolences again to you, Andrea & Elizabeth.

I was in a similar situation, my wife's Mom was not a good cook at all. She thought she was but man she was not. To make matters worse, we got invited there for Sunday dinners. My wife wanted to go on good faith and just bear with the awful food. Ok that was fine one Sunday, but the next Sunday THEY CHARGED US! Yes you read that right, they charged us similar to how it was in that movie with Jon Cusak. I think we had to pay something like $20. Needless to say we never ate there again so Thanksgiving was a NO THANKSgiving at their place. I didn't want to get hit by some charge for lousy food that I barely ate anyway.

Another instant classic.
So…. hinting at what you would like at Thanksgiving dinner was the best you could do for five years before going all in to her about not liking the food?? Instead of just asking if certain foods could be made for dinner, or bringing the subject up to your girlfriend and her giving recommendations to her mom?

Nope. I have off work on Thanksgiving since Thursday is usually a truck day at work

That's pretty savage you said that to her Mom. Lol I’m sure they’re huge fans of him and feel their daughter found a real winner That's all depending on pov though. My mother in law doesn't like me AT ALL. She's also never had a job, blows all her husband's money while getting behind on the bills (lights turned off more than once) and household repairs (only running water is in toilets and bathtub for the 7 years iver known them. And ignores the health needs of her special grandchildren that lives with them. Not too much sleep has been lost in this one sided rivalry.

1. Just don't eat the food. Eat before you go.
2. Eat with your family.
3. Go see the movie with a friend.
4. Tell your gf she's fired and that her mom owes you a gift card.

It’s going to be a small thanksgiving this year and I’m not really dreading it but I’m not particularly looking forward to it either. It’s a nice 4 day weekend for me and bum looking forward to just kind of relaxing

We had it yesterday. It was fine, but my brother-in-law's stepfather talks waaaaay too much when he drinks. And he knows everything about everything. So every time he tried speaking, we either ignored him or interrupted him.

I'm not dreading it, because I'm British. I am dreading Christmas though.

Jack that’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever read from you Yep exactly. We never are there again. Hell, I would not go back to a restaurant with bad food plus is was very insulting to charge us after being invited. Who in holy heck invites their daughter and fiance (at the time) to Sunday dinner at their home and then charges them for it? I would never do that to anyone.
