I feel bad for the girls and guys who lost their jobs -- but this is truly getting comical.
Can you imagine being Mattel? How many people have they had to scrap from line-ups in the last month, let alone the past year?
Soon it's just going to be the absolute top stars and Legends that Mattel can make with any degree of confidence?
WWE is creating such ill will, it's even making me dislike their figures -- despite how much we know the team at Mattel loves their jobs, and actually cares...

I’m just elated we got a Swerve figure with his mid length dreads before his release so I can have a head to put on my customs. But god these releases are just horrible for many obvious reasons but from a consumer’s perspective it’s horrible for Figures and Games. I plan a lot of my bookings and rosters in advance and having something like me planning on bringing in Toni Storm and waiting for her to get an Elite and in the games and her getting potentially cut that means I lose one of my top faces and I have to find someone to fill that role

I would have loved an elite tegan nox but now it’ll never happen because Vince choose to never use her on the main roster, which the only reason her and hit row were brought up is so the can have a 90 day no compete clause vs 30

To be fair Morrison and Ryker weren't doing much.

Do you think that company's being run with so much attention to detail that they would bother with that? This is not a company that cares about the specific situations of specific talents. The likelier scenario is that people are getting called up based on positive buzz or length of time in NXT, and then the goobers in charge don't have anything for them or in many cases are even aware they exist. Tegan's probably a case where the misfiring neurons in Vince's brain saw Shotzi's hair and said, "At least that one's marketable, PAL! Get some green wigs in the Shop! Whatta maneuver!" but didn't see anything special about Tegan from a 5-second glance. Then Bucky probably said, "Sheth got an athcent, Vinthe!" and that was that.
The weird thing is that she might be leaving with an undefeated record on the main roster - did her and Shotzi ever lose a match? I'm hoping she does another Stardom run, they have a ridiculously good roster there at this point.

I don't know what's going on with the whole thing of mass-releasing talent.
Who'd want to work for WWE? It uses to be something to aspire to but how could you be happy or comfortable with what's happening there nowadays.
I'd say many wrestlers are praying to Tony Khan nowadays. I don't Watch AEW but thank god for them being there and having a decent wallet to help some of these wrestlers land on their feet.

Yeah, I'm not a particular fan of AEW, and Tony Khan's dweeby face brings out the long-dormant schoolyard bully in me, but the wrestlers there seem pretty happy about their experiences with the company. Impact is also an underrated place for women's wrestling in particular. I could see a Tegan or Ember or Mia showing up there like Mercedes did. I don't know what's going on with the whole thing of mass-releasing talent. The theory for a long time has been them clearing the books for a sale down the road.

Maybe he's hoping to bloat the company altogether by hoping they'll continue paying over the odds and hiring far too many people. Thats probably unrealistic though.

I doubt this many releases is to do with budget cuts. WWE is definitely taking actions against AEW. NXT 2.0 was also to do with AEW.

im not surprised. the company is in the gutter in terms of where they once were and where its heading... they push the wrong talent and its really hurting them now. i can say more but im not going too for obvious reasons. from a figure standpoint , MDT has gotten so use to it now, im sure they have back up plans x2. the only thing is it may be a re-release , which can either be a good or bad thing...lol.

So Mattel had Morrison under contract for how long and never made a Johnny Nitro with IC title or a Morrison with ECW title. They always do this crap.

I doubt this many releases is to do with budget cuts. WWE is definitely taking actions against AEW. NXT 2.0 was also to do with AEW. Releasing talent that your competitor can make use of is not taking action against that competitor. Hoarding talent would be. So would signing away talent.
NXT 2.0 has to do with AEW only in that NXT head-to-head failed to beat Dynamite in the ratings. Now it's been revamped into a developmental show again, rather than the SuperIndy it was. It honestly has less to do with AEW now than it did.
The most realistic explanations are 1) actual, if extreme, budget cuts; 2) reducing the workforce in advance of an attempt at selling the company; or 3) repeated attempts at bumping the stock price by saying they're streamlining operations.

To be honest smaller roster may force them to be more creative.

Looks like I'm going to have to cave and buy the basic of Nox and Swerve instead of holding out for an elite. They can join Green, Scarlet, Sullivan and Logan.

Not sure who got released, but it’s really sad to be honest. I think WWE is pretty much unwatchable besides a few exemptions. Not only is their show a glorified jobber show, but they’re not building credibility for a lot of these guys. 90% of the matches are predictable, the guys on top are always the ones winning. Which are literally like 3-4 stars. I miss the days of having people like Triple H, Stone Cold, Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Shawn Michaels etc. You wouldn’t know who was going to win in a mix like this for example. It feels like most of their superstars are generic. They need to start building characters, give them storylines and maybe have a few improv on the spot. Reigns is a prime example. He’s literally the only person I watch on the Smackdown highlights, but before that we knew that his character was forced. His storyline now has people invested and people actually care for him. I wonder how Mattel is going to go on about this though. Less roster and more Legends repaints because WWE won’t sign any new superstars.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him on Ringside's top 10 in the upcoming week. That figure was already popular for a basic.

If this means more spots for potentially more Macho and Warrior have opened up in future waves then I’m all for these cuts. Get rid of all the bloat so more proven stars can get made.
