I feel like Fish could be given an ‘04 Benoit push very easily. Journeyman technical worker with roots in ROH, Japan, etc., but who has never held world gold on a high stage. Though older now than Chris was then, I would start the process maybe in a year or two, have him turn face and win some sort of Royal Rumble or MITB-like number one contendership match, then start a feud with a hot heel (maybe MJF, after he’s had a long reign), and then have Fish go over clean in a long-awaited title match, making said heel tap for the finish. What do you think? Would you eventually put the strap on Fish? How would you do it?

I don’t see fish as being that big of a fish, pun intended I guess
he’s a great talent but aew is overflowing with top level talent currently. we have page, bryan, miro, punk, omega for a second time, Mox upon return, pac if he ever steps up…Andrade even. who knows
I’d rather they have fish maybe win a mid tier title at some point. dude is great for sure.

I love Fish but I don’t see him ever being world champion, but I’d be down with a TNT Title run. I think he’s a great believable worker

I dont think anyone should do anything "Benoit" style. I know what you mean, I just think there should be a better way to say it.
On topic, they should get something out of Fish, beyond waiting for O'Reilly to get there to reform ReDragon.

Bobby is just waiting for Kyle so they can continue being the best in ring tag team in the world.

Fish is only there to put over people, a kind of established name that you can slot in anywhere if you need to push someone. He isn't going to do anything of significance in AEW.

Bobby Fish and Chris Benoit are entirely different stories with their careers though.
Before that horrible weekend in June of 2007, Chris Benoit was like respected by every wrestler, every wrestling fan, had a great look to him physically, could cut a decent enough promo when needed, and was actually well known by everyone.
I don't think you can say the same about Bobby Fish. Bobby and Kyle could be the Benoit of the AEW tag division though. How they waited years and years to be World Tag Team Champions (not counting ROH or NXT) and they finally got it now in AEW. But as a singles guy?? No, don't see that happening.

Fish could be a great ROH world champion but seeing as how AEW has already killed that off its best if he just waits till KOR is free and then they can wrestle all over the world & in AEW as a tag team.

Pass
He’s a good mid-card/tag guy

Fish is only there to put over people, a kind of established name that you can slot in anywhere if you need to push someone. He isn't going to do anything of significance in AEW. In boxing terms, he's a gatekeeper. (I don't know if wrestling fans still use Jobber to the Stars, but that's the equivalent.) He's got the name and skill to be a credible opponent to anyone but he's not going to be winning many titles unless ReDragon becomes a thing again.

I'd love to see something like this, or just Fish holding the World Title in general at some point.
Fish has been one of my favourites since I first saw him & watched some old matches. He was my favourite in the Undisputed Era, and really hoped he'd hold at least the North American Title at some point.
Anyway, glad to see him doing really well in AEW so far. Hopefully his momentum builds and builds to at least a TNT Title run, or better yet, the World Title one day.

I'd shoot that idea down.
He's not bad in a team but as a solo star no...

I think you could get a good mid card title run out of him but I think Kyle O'Reilly has more of a main event future than he does.

I like Fish, but I don’t see him on the level of Benoit. Since his ECW days, people saw Benoit as a future world champ, and the majority of fans felt that him finally getting a run with the belt in 2004 was way overdue.
Fans respect Fish, and he’s a great worker, but I’ve never seen fans clamor for him to get a shot at the world title like they did with Benoit.

yeh, Benoit wasn't a journeyman. He was by most ppls account the best wrestler in the world back in the mid-late 90s
Fish isn't even the best wrestler in his tag team

Fish is cool and frankly, I was quite interested in the direction they were taking him prior to the arrival of his undisputed buddies. I didn't see him as a guy who was gonna win titles or anything but I'm less intrigued by him doing ReDragon again despite that being a safe choice.
