So I know this is border line classics and current stuff, since WWE is still releasing current DVDs, but I read today that as of 2022 the WWE is stopping the release of DVDs in North America, among other countries. I think you people in the UK are safe though. Crazy how the WWE Network has put an end to WWE DVDs being released globally now.
So with that being said....
Let's talk about some favourite WWE DVD memories we all had over the years. I will begin, since I started this thread.
My first WWE DVD
My first WWE DVD was actually the Bloodbath: Wrestling's Steel Cage Matches DVD set. I remember how cool it was just because of the NWA matches they showed on the DVD set. It was still weird to see NWA footage on a WWE DVD in the year 2003 for me.
My Most Wanted WWE DVD
Simple really. It's a tie. In 2003 when they hyped the Ric Flair DVD and it finally came out, I wanted it. It was a way to see matches I never seen, or clips and highlights I never got to see either off WCW TV shows or PPVs. I finally got in March of 2004, when my Mom out of all people, brought it home for me from Walmart. I was so ecstatic! I watched it right off the bat over the next few days. I still own it in my collection too, it was one of the few that made the cut for my own personal collection still.
The other was The Rise & Fall of ECW. When it came out in late 2004, it sold out like crazy too. I didn't end up buying it until some time in late 2005. But it was such a great documentary. A three hour one at that! I believe that's the longest WWE documentary ever done. The matches on the second disc were good, but I also knew that there was so many other great matches they could have showed. Thankfully they all came out in the ECW DVD releases over the next ten years.
My Favourite WWE DVD To Watch
That one was simple. That was the Bret Hart DVD set that came out in late 2005. I couldn't believe we had a Bret Hart DVD set coming out after Bret leaving the WWF over the Screw Job and Owen passing away. But the documentary for the Bret DVD set was amazing! I believe I watched that documentary the most over any other WWE documentary that came out.
My Biggest Haul When Buying WWE DVDs
That happened in around late August or early September of 2004. In one go, I bought Wrestlemania 20, Chris Benoit Story, WWE Hall of Fame 2004, WWE Backlash 2004, WWE Bad Blood 2004 and Mick Foley's DVD set. Those were fun DVDs to have. I was a huge fan of WWE in 2004 because I was such a huge Chris Benoit fan then. So to get all this stuff in one go, was pretty awesome! I think a week or two later I ended up getting Vengeance 2004 on DVD too. So that month was a big month for WWE DVDs for me.
So that is a quite summary of what my favourite stuff was for WWE DVDs. So if anyone wants to jump in and talk favourite WWE DVDs now that they are going to be a thing of the past, then please join in!

I really don't have many
My favorite was Rise and Fall of ECW. Just fantastic. I need to get more especially since you never know what will happen with streaming.
I feel bad for people who sold all their dvd's or got rid of them when WWE Network came out especially with peacock taking over
I prefer physical over streaming.

Great topic! Kinda sucks DVD’s are going away but the times are a changing I guess. I don’t even know the last one I bought! WWE Network is so much easier but I was just saying in the other thread, I miss sometimes the collections where you could just watch 1 guys matches etc.
I’m gonna include VHS tapes because I’m that old haha and I remember getting those a lot more!
My first WWE DVD/ VHS
WWF Champion Hulk Hogan's Greatest Matches was my first VHS tape I know that…
I use to put that on SO many times and start with the Hulk/ Andre match and rarely get to the end where Hogan faces Taker at Tuesday in Texas haha. It was 5 matches and it would seem like it was on for an eternity before I had to shut it off because I had to go do something or my parents wanted to watch TV. I was really young when I had that. I’d alway wanna make it to the end though haha.
My first DVD I THINK was WWF Best of RAW Vol. 1 & 2. I know I started to binge DVD buying around the time the 2003 collection of PPV’s came out, but I’m fairly certain my first DVD was the Best of Raw. Me and my brothers watched this SO many times. A forum member just recently sent me the file for volume 3 and I didn’t even know that existed.
My Most Wanted WWE DVD
My most anticipated DVD was the Royal Rumble box set (all the Rumbles). I could not WAIT to watch those, it was the greatest thing, the Rumble being my favorite event, I couldn’t wait to go back and watch all the old Rumbles again. A close 2nd is the WrestleMania box set….I adored that as well.
My Favourite WWE DVD To Watch
My favorite VHS was “Because Stone Cold Said So”. Me and my brothers got it on Christmas under the warning that we were forbidden from saying anything we heard on the tape lol. We watched that so many times and we laughed and laughed and laughed lol. I still have it and the part where he comes up behind Pillman skips because we’d rewind it and just laugh at how funny it looked. Royal Rumble 2000 and 2001 and WW3 1996 are close second though. I still love watching those shows.
My favorite DVD has gotta be “ WWE: Tombstone - The History of the Undertaker” and I have to say that one because we’d watch it SO many times when it came out and it was the first of those collections that had matches from so many different eras, we’d watch a different disk every night while we ate those microwaveable mini taco’s lol.
My Biggest Haul When Buying WWE DVDs
I never actually bought a whole bunch of DVD’s because there were only so many to buy when I started and I kinda kept up from there with what I wanted. Every Christmas though we’d ask for a whole bunch of PPV VHS tapes and we’d tier them. Like we’d ask for a few expensive ones of the better shows and then we’d ask for a whole bunch of cheap ones like Armageddon ‘99’s of the world haha. We’d always get a whole bunch of tapes though on Christmas each year and watch them forever!

End of an era. I used to love buying used WWE DVDs at FYE, but I cannot remember the last time I bought a wrestling DVD in a store.
Favorites: The 2 Ultimate Warrior DVDs released after he reconciled with the company, John Cena: Word Life with his rap promos
Wish I had: Survivor Series Anthology 1987-1991. I was binge watching DVDs during the start of the pandemic and this is something that wouldve passed the time quicker but I dont know why I didnt just purchase online.
I also dont know how crap like Best of Raw and Smackdown 2011-2018 was ever released because all you need is a Tiktok video for that, not a DVD boxset.

I only have a few years I’m missing after the network came about in 2014, I may go grab them now before prices ultimately skyrocket like everything vintage does. The two things that suck about the streaming service is sometimes you get that dumb ad break (fade to black) even if you paid to not see ads and there’s a ton of music/theme dub overs.
First WWE DVD: Royal Rumble 2002, didnt have anything until then that could play DVD’s, then found out the PS2 could and I think thats honestly what killed my first PS2 machine in the end lol.
Most Wanted DVD(s): Probably going to have to pay a small fortune but would love to have some of the silvervision Tagged Classic early IYH PPV’s on DVD, I have all from 98-2001 but few from the earlier days.
Favorite DVD to Watch: Probably Rise and Fall of ECW, for the time there were few documentaries that were that well put together. Eddie’s was pretty good as well.
Biggest Haul: Probably will be the one I do when I put together enough side dough to buy up the remaining PPV DVD’s I dont own currently. Looking at 6 years or so of DVD’s.

Shame. But understandable. Does this have anything to do with the WWE selling their library to NBC?
I really enjoyed the DVD's, especially the DVD retrospectives of wrestler's careers. But my favorites are the PPV Anthologies (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Summer Slam, and Survivor Series). I only purchased the first two volumes of each one (first 3 or the WrestleMania ones). Wish I would have purchased the ones through the attitude era. I also wish they would have done an anthology for King of the Ring, In Your House, and the Saturday Night's Main Events (and the few Main Event) shows. It also would have been great to get a best of DVD for WWF Superstars and WWF Wrestling Challenge. Not many great matches on those but they did have great segments like the first meeting of Hogan and Flair on TV, the snake bite incident, Warrior being stuffed in a casket, numerous Piper's Pits, Snake Pits, and Brother Love Show segments that would be fun to have on DVD.

thats sucks but i dont really buy any anymore.
only one i got recently, that i LOVE, is the unreleased 1986-1995. was hoping for more of these dvd's tho.
my favs and so glad i got them are the anthology's of the big 4. i only have 1st sets of summerlsam, survivor series, & rumble. I have sets 1&2 of mania.
was hoping for official anthology's of king of ring, starrcade, sat night main event on dvd tho.

Dont think Ive bought a DVD since the Network fired up So you're the reason why then that we can't buy WWE DVDs come 2022!! Just for that, you have to have relations of the naked kind with Alexa Bliss for punishment. I know, it sounds cruel, but you have to do it. It would be the most painful 36 seconds of my life. |

My favorite dvd to watch was Shawn Michaels: From the Vault. I used to legit study the Iron Man match. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea...but that match is still to this day one of my favorite matches of all time.
I also watched the hell out of the Summerslam 02 and Wrestlemania XIX dvds.
I wish I still had my copy of Chris Benoit: Hard Knocks. I left it at my best friends house, and his cousin took it with him to Colorado and I never saw it again. That dvd set was badass.

Did you do tape trading online back in the early 2000s then??
Also, hold onto all those VHS tapes, I have heard stories of the burnt DVDs not working 10 years or so after you make them. I thought that was ridiculous so I tested a few of my DVDs I did in 2007 and they do not work at all anymore. And I threw out my VHS tapes.... so yeah. That sucked.
