I'm thinking about travelling to Chicago and NY/NJ for the first two weeks of February for AEW shows but of course I'm uncertain of what kind of restrictions may be in place. For those living in the US, do you know if restrictions are likely to get more severe soon or not? At the moment I'm allowed to travel from the UK as long as I show proof that I've had the vaccines and a test as well I think. I know the US is extremely unlikely to ban UK travellers because they've just lifted a ban on the African countries who had been on their no go list.
My main concern is that the US could bring in a lockdown in which many places are closed and events such as wrestling are restricted again. Do you guys think this could happen and maybe I shouldn't travel to the US just yet?

chicago and new york are warzones. me being a citizen of the US, I dont even want to go to those places.
most places as long as you have a negative test before you go to the event you should be fine, but for new york and chicago you probably need vax proof.

i work in a venue in NY, they pretty much require a vaccination for everything. this might sound dumb but do you guys have the same 3 vaccines as us?

In all honesty, I would postpone your trip. Even if you get to the US, what happens if they put a ban on attending wrestling venues? You're pretty much sunk. And I live in NJ. Newark isn't the friendliest of places.

Newark isn't the friendliest of places. I've heard this a lot, both from locals and travelers, but honestly, I stayed there twice in 2019, and I thought it was fine. I wound up staying at an AirBnb in the Ironbound for WM35 after my ABNB in East Rutherford cancelled, and other than the distance, it was fine. We were able to walk and/or Uber the short distance to the train station to get to NYC, the neighborhood was fine, and the Brazilian eats in the neighborhood were bomb. Later that year, I was back in Newark for an event at the Prudential. We stayed at the hotel right next door that used to be a bank, and the experience was just as fine. There was a guy across the street from the hotel peddling wares with loud music accompanying, but he was gone by the time the concert was out. I'd definitely postpone your trip til the newest surge sorta works itself out, but if you do ever wind up going to Newark for a show, definitely stay in that old bank hotel. Place ruled.

Some useful advice so far so I'll definitely hold off until we see how omicron spreads. Flights being cancelled because of staff being sick is a real concern too. The show in NJ I was planning is in Atlantic City and I'd only be there one night for that then back to NY to come home.

I doubt you'll be able to fly to the US I think UK are going back into lockdown soon Highly unlikely. It'll be restrictions on the amount of people who can gather in public and venues being hit hard much like Scotland, Wales and Ireland are doing. Nothing will change with travel. The US could impose a travel ban but since omicron is running wild there now it'd be a bit like shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

You won't get any lock downs here in the US. It killed the economy and Republicans are against that. Seeing as how Democrats are in office, they won't want to shut it down either as the finger would go to them. You're good.

Even if I don't get to the Atlantic City one, I'll just come the next time they're in the NY area.

The 1 thing you do know is if you stay home you’re fine. No worry of “What If”. You could be dealing with lots of unknowns & it could really screw you up. So just don’t go.
I was supposed to go on a cruise in February, & you have to be vaccinated in order to get on the boat, but now I don’t want to be around others in a close quarters capacity for days.

My wife works for Pfizer in the foreign filing dept and her boss is based in the UK and they have pretty much the same ones Pfizer, Maderna & AstraZeneca. They don’t have J&J. In all honesty, I would postpone your trip. Even if you get to the US, what happens if they put a ban on attending wrestling venues? You're pretty much sunk. And I live in NJ. Newark isn't the friendliest of places.lol. We had to take our daughter to Penn Station this morning because she’s visiting a friend in DC for the next few days. She’s vaccinated but to board the train she had to go on Amtrak’s website with proof she was tested and negative within the last 14 days. But yeah Newark didn’t look like it’s gotten any better over the years. lol

I live in the Chicago suburbs. As of today, you need a vaccination card to get into basically everywhere. If you can, I would postpone your trip. If I was going to fly half way across the world, I’d want to be able to do anything and everything possible. Covid is going to keep that from happening right now.
