So with watching Raw last night and seeing the Mysterio Family vs. Street Profits, it reminded me of great tag team wrestling I used to enjoy years ago. So I thought I would do a top favourite list of tag team wrestling matches or feuds I enjoyed, as well as you all can join in too and name off yours!
This is really no order in particular.
1. Diesel & Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon & 123 Kid for the WWF World Tag Titles from Action Zone Oct. 1994
- This match was so much fun! Seriously, if you haven't watched it, find it online to watch. It had to have been 20 - 25 minutes long too.
2. Edge & Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle for the WWE Tag Titles from No Mercy 2002
- The finals for the first ever WWE Tag Team Champions took place with these two teams and it was a hell of a match! A lot of close pin falls, and reversals.
3. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas vs. Hollywood Blondes for the Unified WCW and NWA World Tag Titles from WCW World Wide March 1993
- These two teams have had some battles on TV and house shows leading up to this, but it was do or die time for the Blondes. With the help of a towel and championship title, the Blondes were victorious over Steamboat and Douglas.
4. Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs. Lance Storm & Chris Candido for the ECW World Tag Titles from ECW Hardcore TV June 1998
- These two teams wrestled many times over the span of three or four months, either tagging with their partners or each other against their partners. But they always brought out the best out of each other in their tag matches.
5. The British Bulldogs vs. The Hart Foundation for the WWF World Tag Titles from Boston Garden Nov. 1st 1986
- These two teams would have great matches in 1985, 1986 and 1987, but it was this very night that maybe their greatest tag match took place. Everything was in the air just right for this match, and many say that the Hart Foundation should have won the Tag Titles that night. It wasn't until a few months later where they won them on WWF Superstars of Wrestling thanks to Danny Davis.
6. The Midnight Express vs. The Southern Boys for the WCW US Tag Titles from Great American Bash 1990
- The Midnight Express dominated the US Tag Title scene constantly it seemed from 1988 - 1990 at times. And this match proved why as they put on a wrestling clinic with Smothers and Armstrong. Definitely a fun match to go back and watch now.
7. Steiner Brothers vs. Money Inc. for the WWF World Tag Titles from WWF Superstars July 1993
- These two teams should have had a one on one tag match at a PPV, but the best we could do is two back to back WWF Superstars TV matches. These guys had a lot of magic together in the ring, and are still fun to go back and watch to this day.
8. New Age Outlaws vs. "New" Midnight Express for the WWF World Tag Titles from King of the Ring 1998
- I remember watching these two teams wrestle each other on WWF Jakked about a month before this match took place, and thought, "Wow, these two teams need to wrestle each other on a PPV!" Thankfully, we got that at the King of the Ring, and it did not disappoint. It was cool to see Billy vs. Bart in the ring too, and Jim Ross even made light of the history between the two "brothers" in the match. Just a fun match to watch.
9. Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. the Midnight Express for the WCW US Tag Titles from Clash of the Champions June 1990
- These two teams battled for the NWA World Tag Titles years earlier, so now we get to see them battle for the WCW US Tag Titles. These two teams are always magic in the ring together, so no surprise here that this match was magic as well.
10. Barry Windham & Lex Luger vs. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard for the NWA World Tag Titles from WCW Saturday Night April 1988
- The heel turn heard around the world! Barry Windham gives up his own Tag Title reign to turn on Lex Luger and help Arn and Tully win back the NWA World Tag Titles just so he could join the Four Horsemen. Such a great match, and probably the greatest heel turn in NWA/WCW up until Hulk Hogan's turn in 1996.
So what does everyone else have for their picks?? Any the same as mine??
