For those who watched Royal Rumble '92, we all remember that infamous line of Mean Gene saying off camera to someone, "Hey! Put that cigarette out!" Such a random thing to say, but all that time when I was younger watching that PPV over and over again, it always got me wondering, "who was Mean Gene talking to??"
So does anyone have any guesses??
My first guess was that after Jack Tunney talked to Ric Flair congratulating him, that he went off camera and lit up a cigarette to enjoy in the festivities.
Or maybe, just maybe.... there wasn't anyone smoking a cigarette and Mean Gene just did that to try and get a reaction out of Heenan, Perfect and Flair??
Either way, such a strange random comment for Mean Gene to make during that entire segment.

I always thought it was an agent/crew member he was saying it to.Looking back though it couldve been a rib considering Gene himself liked to smoke.
It's a random as hell line to say but man still memorable 30 years later! RIP Mean Gene

Well, nibs92 had it correct, it was Pat Patterson that Okerlund yelled at for smoking. Flair says it at the end of the video around the 8:12 mark. |

I thought I heard at some point that somebody had thrown a cigarette into the trash and it was burning. I might be mixing up stories though because I remember a similar thing happening at World War 3 ‘95
