So I stopped watching in ~2016 after watching consistently since 2010. I was a huge fan, and I don’t even really remember why I stopped watching. I want to get back into it, but I kinda wanna be filled in a bit before I start watching again. Who are the champs, who are some new big names, who isn’t in the company anymore, blah blah blah. Anything will help. thanks

I want to get back into it, but I kinda wanna be filled in a bit before I start watching again. Who are the champs, who are some new big names, who isn’t in the company anymore, blah blah blah. Anything will help. thanks Reigns and Lesnar are the champs of the respective shows. Brock is a big scary babyface, Reigns is a gaslighting, almost mafia boss type heel. They’re in a feud that seems set for WrestleMania, but Brock being the Raw champ now may mean they’re on a different course of action. Paul Heyman was Roman’s manager but now he’s back with Brock. Some of the other big names at the moment are: Becky Lynch (who caught fire in 2018/19, had the big Mania babyface main event win, and is now a cocky heel after taking a year off to have a baby) Edge (came back in 2020, won the Rumble this year, best shape of his life) Bobby Lashley (came back in 2018, and for the last couple of years has been an absolute beast, managed by MVP) Bianca Belair (won the Rumble this year and beat Sasha Banks in a WrestleMania main event, lost the title to a returning Becky via cheap shot) Drew McIntyre (pretty much the top babyface besides Brock, carried the company through lockdown as WWE champion, has been out of the title picture recently) Seth Rollins (calls himself the Visionary and the Drip God, wears ridiculous clothes at all times, constantly doing stupid laughs and dances as an annoying heel) Kevin Owens (was a babyface for a few years but is now back to being a conniving heel, has an odd couple alliance with Rollins at the moment) New Day (Big E is main event singles on Raw, Kofi and Woods are teaming on SD, Kofi was WWE champ in 2019, Woods is current King of the Ring) Sami Zayn (sort of a wimpy heel, goes on about WWE having a conspiracy against him, threatens people with lawyers etc) Shinsuke Nakamura (current IC champ, has his own guitarist/tag partner called Rick Boogs) Charlotte Flair (kind of the ruthless aggression HHH of the women’s division) Sasha Banks (has blue hair now) RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Matt Riddle odd couple tag team, Riddle adores Orton and is always suggesting goofy nonsense) The Miz (still Miz, still awesome) Alexa Bliss (closest thing to an Undertaker spooky gimmick, has magic powers and a haunted doll) Biggest names from 2016 that are gone are probably Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Dean Ambrose. Next PPV is the Rumble. Main matches are the men’s Rumble, the women’s Rumble, and Lesnar vs Lashley facing each other in singles for the first time.

If you weren't a fan of the focus being on Roman Reigns and part timers before, I'd suggest pass

Roman has been the tribal chief asserting his dominance over Smackdown and I love it, personally.

No matter what you type out here, you can't really catch someone up on what's happening because too much has happened in the past 5 years or so.
That's like someone saying, "I stopped watching after Skaaland threw in the towel in the Backlund/Sheik match, catch me up on what happened since."
No matter where you stopped watching, you can't totally be caught up by people saying things to you.

Who is still around from 2010 or prior?
Edge Randy Orton Miz Sheamus Kofi Kingston Lashley (2nd Run) MVP (2nd Run) Dolph Ziggler Drew Mcintyre (2nd run) Brock Lesnar (probably 15th run by now) Rey Mysterio (2nd Run) R-Truth Shelton Benjamin Usos? (debuted in 2010) Natalya
Actually more than I thought it was going to be.

Shows are packed with highlights and recap packages so you wouldn't take long to catch up tbh. The only example of good, long term storytelling is the tribal chief stuff which you'll either love or hate. Imo its the best stuff they've done in years.
There is still a lot to like about the product, but I wouldn't go into the weekly shows expecting fun exciting matches. Its mostly just build up for the big events, which tend to deliver on a regular basis.

Bayley single handily got us through the first year of the pandemic
Finn Balor went back to NXT and had fantastic matches before some Lex Luger level of bland guy named Kristopher Kross ruined it
Ciampa and Gargano had one of the greatest rivalries in wrestling
Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair main evented a top ten level Wrestlemania last year
Bryan returned from retirement and reclaimed his title of best wrestler in the world
Kofi finally become WWE champion in one of the greatest moments in wrestling history
Sami Zayn and Roman are carrying Smackdown currently
Bobby Lashley and Big E have been carrying RAW
Edge just had arguably the best in ring year of his life

Johnny Knoxville is in the Royal Rumble match because WWE. Is desperate for attention. And thinks me and Jack ass are relevant.

Kevin! Stop eating those babies, get out of that godawful pentagram and get to work! I want you to bring in that kid who lost the spelling bee to Charlie Kelly. That’s such good RUTHLESS AGGRESSION! Quite frankly, I don’t give a damn whether he’s gone through a thousand usernames or not. Get it done, or YOU’RE FIRED! Ha ha ha! I love firing people even more than I love EGG!”

WWE are great with their highlights packages. If you’ve missed weeks, months or even years of their product, you’ll be all caught up after an episode of Raw or Smackdown.

If you weren't a fan of the focus being on Roman Reigns and part timers before, I'd suggest pass Who’s the part timer because Lesnars been on programming every week for the last few months if that’s who you’re referring to lol I wouldn’t consider him PT at this point. I mean I’m sure after Mania he’ll disappear for a bit until he’s needed again but for the meantime, he’s been far from part time

Next PPV is the Rumble. Main matches are the men’s Rumble, the women’s Rumble, and Lesnar vs Lashley facing each other in singles for the first time. Following this
- Damian Priest has been a strong US Champion since he won the title at Summerslam. A very credible champion who has given the title more meaning over recent months - Rey Mysterio has been back for a while, and is now teaming with his Son Dominik. - The Miz cashed in money in the Bank for the second time to win his second WWE Championship last year. The reign was short lived though - John Morrison returned in late 2019, teamed with The Miz for a while, then was released shortly after they split & he turned face again. - Robert Roode debuted on the Main Roster in 2017, and is now teaming with Dolph Ziggler as 'The Dirty Dawgs'. They're former Tag Champions. - AJ Styles has been a top star since his debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble. He had been teaming with new star 'Omos' (A giant, 7ft +) for a year, where they won the Tag Titles. Recently split, now Styles is turning face again, and working in both Raw (feud with Omos), and NXT with new star Grayson Waller. - Cesaro received a well deserved push last year. Finally getting a singles match on the Main WrestleMania card against Seth Rollins, which he won. He then went on to have a small feud with, and challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Backlash. He's been consistently on Smackdown since. - Sami Zayn went from one of the biggest faces, to now a full blown heel. He's been heel since 2017, and is now a 'Conspiracy victim'. Consistently one of the best, and most entertaining wrestler's on Smackdown. Plenty of releases have taken place, some of the most notable ones being
- Daniel Bryan, returned to action in 2018, and had a good run. Winning the WWE Title, having a nice heel run as champion from 2018-2019, then later turned face again for the remainder of his run. Left WWE in mid 2021, and is now apart of AEW. - Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly). All debuted in NXT in 2017 & shortly formed the group, and later added Roderick Strong. They were NXT's top faction for years until their split in 2021. All 3 original members would later leave WWE, and sign with AEW. Roderick Strong is still with NXT as of now. - The Wyatt Family. All (main) members have been released. Luke Harper was the first in late 2019, followed by Erick Rowan in 2020, then Braun & Bray in 2021. Harper would sign with AEW and have a good run until his tragic passing in December 2020, Rowan has worked sporadic independent shows, Braun is starting to show up around, and Bray is yet to make a move. - Chris Jericho started to work part time throughout 2017 & 2018, then went on to work with NJPW, and the All In PPV in 2018. He'd be one of the first signings with AEW in 2019, and remains there today. - Matt Hardy returned in 2017 at WrestleMania 33 with Jeff, after tag runs with Jeff, and Bray Wyatt. He entered a short feud with Randy Orton at the start of 2020, which wrote him off TV. He'd then leave, and join AEW shortly after, where he still competes today. - Jeff Hardy would tag with Matt, then go solo throughout the years until 2021. He won the US & IC Title's, got his old theme 'No More Words' back in 2021, and was recently suddenly released. - Dean Ambrose left WWE in 2019, then later joined AEW under his independent name 'Jon Moxley'. He's been one of their top stars since, winning their World Title, and competing in Hardcore/Deathmatches in both AEW, and GCW. - Samoa Joe would compete regularly throughout 2017-2020, however injuries halted a lot of him momentum. He transitioned to a commentary role on Raw in 2020, then moved back to NXT as a 'non active' talent while setting up for his in ring return, where he'd once again win the NXT Title. His reign was cut short though due to injury, where he was then kept out of action since, seemingly moving to a backstage role. He was recently released. Some other things that have happened
- Batista & Kurt Angle both had their retirement matches at WrestleMania 35. - CM Punk returned to Professional Wrestling in 2019, appearing on the FOX & WWE partnered show 'WWE Backstage' where he'd occasionally appear. He made his official return to Professional Wrestling in 2021, debuting for AEW as an active wrestler, where he still competes regularly today. - Christian made a brief return in mid 2020, having a quick match with Randy Orton to further a storyline. He'd then return in the 2021 Royal Rumble, which would be his last match before heading to AEW shortly after. He competes regularly there now, putting on some of the best matches of his career. - Ronda Rousey debuted at the 2018 Royal Rumble, then competing at WrestleMania 34, teaming with Kurt Angle against Triple H & Stephanie McMahon. She'd then go on to win the Raw Women's Title, and compete in the first Women's WrestleMania Main Event at WrestleMania 35, with Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. - NXT recently had a revamp, moving away from the Black/Gold 'Edgier/Metal' style. With the focus moving from a developmental brand, to a third show with Raw & Smackdown, now back to a more developmental brand. The influx of Independent talent has majorly slowed down in favour of more 'other' sport athletes, and home grown stars being made. The show is about 90% fresh faces now, with some familiar faces still competing on the brand.

Taker had his last match with no fans and also his last showing on WWE programming was also in front of no fans.
I feel like that’s a pretty big deal
