Piper and Run DMC segments definitely had a hand in matches getting cut short.
I still get a crack as Jesse ripping on Rockin' Robin after the national anthem by saying ''She should stick to her day job!'' Cant wait to relive this as part of RWN this April!

I wonder if it were down to time restraints. I noticed on the original video they would cut entrances and promptly go from one match to the next. There were 14 matches in total as well as the Wrestlemania wrap with Run-DMC and the Pipers pit segment.
I remember with Survivor Series 87 and 88 videos there were a couple of matches on each that only showed the eliminations. I believe this was attributed to time and cost. Back in the late eighties, the cost of tape was pretty high, so back on topic, it may have been down to the cost factor as well.

Jesse was great all the way through this. Loved him ripping the Warrior for hitting a manager and proclaiming the move of the event was the thumb to the eye.

Thankfully they left the tag team matches and main events intact. An edited version of either would have completely ruined them.

I remember being a kid watching Survivor Series '87 numerous times from the local variety store where I rented it from, wondering how, when, and where did the British Bulldogs get eliminated from that tag match.
It wasn't until around 10 years ago or so, when I got myself a copy of the PPV version of that event did I not see when and how it happened.

Haha I hear ya Those Coliseum PPV tapes had some cool extra footage on em but man did they suffer in the match department with the edits. Great artwork though!

As I kid I didn't think much of the CV cuts but in my teens when I could find the PPV versions from tape traders or the WWF Home Videos of Wrestlemania, the CV versions felt awful with all the cuts. The did add some cool features, I think WM IV nothing was cut, but a few backstage segments don't make up for cut entrances. It was funny reading the Wrestlemania book that came out in 2000 or 2001 and the author was talking about things from the shows that CV had cut and I was wondering what the heck he was writing about. I got the original 1987 Survivor Series taped PPV version which has Steamboat's Sirius song so it's cool to see the version without the WWF generic theme dub.
