yeah because 2K can get talent just for the game as long as WWE approves. Mattel can’t make a figure of someone unless they have a proper contract directly with WWE. strange And I don’t think it’s ever been made clear if this is a WWE decision or if Mattel just doesn’t want to take on the extra costs it would take to pursue and sign them. who knows. Mattel would make money if they did it right so idk why they wouldn’t

they should be allowed to sign legends themselves like they used to. not sure why they dropped that I’d guess wwe don’t want to be associated with certain wrestlers and like I say the line is successful enough they can call the shots. I’m sure but they could just do the same thing as 2K, just get WWE’s approval.

Maybe it’s not enough return on investment to hire someone to track down all these guys and fly to wherever they are in the world to negotiate a deal plus the costs to sign em.

He'd make a great exclusive. I think adding his first figure to the next Mattel Creations set would be great. I'd love to get a 1997 WCW crowd funded set. Make it ring add-ons, a stage, some new UE's -- whatever. But a Bischoff figure would help one of those do really well.

Could easily be pulled off as a 2 in 1. Black T-Shirt and jeans as the base, a denim nitro jacket and swappable denim sleeves, leather jacket and swappable sleeves, clean shaven head, scruffy 5 o’clock shadow head.

2K no longer does outside deals. The person has to have some kind of deal with WWE to get in the games. That might not extend to figures but 2k can not sign direct deals like they used to. It used to be that 2K would go out and sign someone that was on the outside of WWE and create the showcase around that person. That stopped YEARS ago. If you look at the two most recent 2k games (WWE 2k20 and Battlegournds) the only names on the lists that haven't had figures over the past few years (three or so give or take) are Molly Holly and Typhoon.
2K20 Legends: Andre The Giant Batista Beth Phoenix Big Boss Man Booker T Bret Hart Brutus Beefcake Christian Chyna Diesel Dusty Rhodes Eddie Guerrero Edge Goldberg Hulk Hogan Jake Roberts Jerry Lawler Jim Neidhart Kane Kevin Nash Kurt Angle Lita Mankind Mark Henry Molly Holly Mr.McMachon Papa Shango Randy Savage Razor Ramon Ric Flair Ricky Steamboat Roddy Piper Scott Hall Steve Austin Sting Ted Dibiase The Rock Triple H Trish Stratus Ultimate Warrior Undertaker X-Pac
Battlegrounds: Alundra Blayze Andre The Giant Batista Beth Phoenix Big Boss Man Booker T Bret Hart British Bulldog Cactus Jack Christian Chyna Diesel Doink The Clown Earthquake Eddie Guerrero Edge Hulk Hogan Jake Roberts Jim Neidhart Kane Lita Mr.Perfect Randy Savage Razor Ramon Ric Flair Ricky Steamboat Roddy Piper Sgt.Slaughter Shawn Michaels Sting Stone Cold The Rock The Undertaker Typhoon Ultimate Warrior Vader Yokozuna

Looks like the similarities with deals between Mattel and the game are closer than people thought.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the two new FTIL’s are Eric Bischoff and Molly Holly.
It’s funny, everyone did the whole ‘the games don’t mean anything’ when someone suggested Mr.T was on the way because of the mobile game and then a few weeks later he was announced as a figure.

I hope so. How bad would it be if he were a build a figure and one of the figures were short packed 🤣🤣🤣

Every year. God we need an FAQ around here nobody would read it.What we need is to compile a list of FAQ & most common thread topics that have the same answer. Then when you sign up for you account you have to read all of those & answer correctly before your account is activated. Correct. Some people here won't even go back a couple pages to read Steve's answers in his Q&A thread. They just go ahead and ask a question that he just answered.

WWE toy figs consistently rank high in most popular / highest selling figures - probs lot because there’s consistently new content pumped out so I guess toy companies are eager to please wwe to obtain / retain the license and it lets wwe pull a lot of the strings they should be allowed to sign legends themselves like they used to. not sure why they dropped that Because this way they aren’t paying the wrestlers the wwe are.

I would like one. I’d prefer his mullet look from I think ‘96-97. I would mine one from a WCW crowd funding stage. However, all I want is the stage. I’d like Mattel to go all out on the stage and possibly include some WCW ring accessories, but nothing to take away from the detail.

I personally don't think Eric is coming from Mattel. I think he got into 2K22 because of his time working backstage for the company. My post earlier was just trying to dismiss this constant "2K can go out and sign whoever they want" that keeps coming up.

Many have already expected but with the addition of Eric Bischoff in the new WWE 2K22 game, it's looking more and more like a dead cert. It would make sense for him to be in the Legends line with the NWO sprayed over the Legends logo like Nash and Hall. Super misleading title. All speculation. Just saying you might want to change that title why is this such a big deal to people on this forum?

As I'm reading this thread, Eric Bischoff shows up on my tv screen on Smackdown. Even if we got him as a basic, could he sell any worse than Dexter Lumis or Jake Atlas in basic 123? They are still clogging the pegs at my local Walmart. Christmas shopping barely phased them.

Mattel would make money if they did it right so idk why they wouldn’t The answer is probably both. It's financially beneficial for both WWE and the licensing partner. Legends deals pay out a percentage of WWE's cut of merchandise on an item. So Mattel/2k/Topps/whoever save money because direct deals would require an additional percentage on top of what they're already paying WWE. WWE benefits from economy of scale - they sign talent for a modest price, giving up a percentage of their profits. But in turn offer a significant roster of talent to licensees, and probably in turn negotiate a higher cut of profits. When you do that across 3,4,10 licensed properties, it ends up being more lucrative. At one point 2k was able to sign talent independently (as could Mattel), but I haven't seen any sign of that since Rick Martel in 2k19. So it's entirely possible contract terms have changed for 2k and they're operating under the same terms as Mattel and Topps. It was probably just a matter of old contracts having differing expiration years.

It’s funny, everyone did the whole ‘the games don’t mean anything’ when someone suggested Mr.T was on the way because of the mobile game and then a few weeks later he was announced as a figure. While what Steve has said is definitely correct, I think it's become a bit of a red herring around here. There's probably 95% parity between rosters for most WWE licensed properties. But there are absolutely exceptions. For example Hulk Hogan was under a WWE merch deal while his Storm figure deal was still in place, which meant he was unavailable to Mattel until that expired. There have been talents who seemed to have short term or one off merch deals after HOF inductions - I think the R&R Express and Torrie Wilson both had shirts in their HOF year. And I could see some very rare exceptions where someone is either off limits by Mattel's edict (I believe Kerry Von Erich is/was in this category) or maybe absolutely does not want to be included in figures. But card or game lineups are usually a pretty good indicator of who might be signed, or more pertinently IF new talent are being signed with any regularity. All signs point to no. But people like The Goon, Chief Jay Strongbow, etc have showed up in other properties in some cases years before Mattel finally revealed figures. Is it foolproof? No. But it's the best clue we have.
