Finn Balor was NXT Champion and finally made his return to the main roster only to put his opponents over in expert fashion. It is always a thrill for fans of Balor to see him perform, but they are always holding out for more. Those fans can keep hoping, because Vince McMahon would need to change his mind for things to improve for Fergal Devitt.
Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the creative team that Vince McMahon never saw Finn Balor as a key player. In fact, “Vince never had faith in Balor. To him, Balor is a high spot guy that doesn’t sell in a way that means box office. He sells, then he’s doing a spot, and Vince just thinks he’s filler on the roster.”
We were told that “Vince never had faith in Balor. Even when he made him the first Universal Champion.” Paul Heyman would feel much differently if he was still Executive Director of RAW.
That being said, WWE has not released the first-ever Universal Champion. His contract isn’t cheap, but “even if he’s making a million a year, that’s not a lot of money by today’s standards.”
The company has released a lot of people, but Finn Balor remains on the roster. The fact is that “AEW would bend over backwards” for Finn Balor. He has also been on WWE television long enough where it would be “another WWE guy going to AEW,” and in a big way.
WWE realizes that Tony Khan would offer Finn Balor a contract as soon as he is legally able to, and that could be one of the reasons why Balor is still around for high spots. Still, virtually nobody is off the table when talks of releases come up.

As a huge Balor mark, it sucks to hear this. He deserves so much better.
Thoughts?

It doesn't shock me.
Vince tried to go the way of the indy wrestler as the top draw and it didn't work out like he had hoped. Now he has the likes of Lashley, Lesnar, Reigns, McIntyre, Omos, Breakker, etc. to be the main guys in WWE and hold the main titles.

As evidenced at Xtreme Rules, he doesn't even have God advocating for him

I mean ... isn't it kind of obvious Vince never saw him as a top guy considering he's never been one since 2016? Hopefully I don't get accused of knowing Vince.

I don’t know about Omos, but in general, there’s an awesome heavyweight division now. The guys you mentioned, plus Orton and Edge, Owens and Rollins. Sheamus on the outskirts. And some great younger prospects. Anyone expecting the show to be built around a balding, 40 year old vanilla midget who can’t talk is crazy. Balor isn’t the best at anything and is way below others at a lot of things. He’s in a good position at the moment that suits his abilities and limitations. I’d still give him one more shot at it, maybe a heel turn to see if that works, and one last big Demon entrance at Mania against a star (Edge maybe). And if that doesn’t work, just working with newer wrestlers until his contract ends. At which point, if he has any interest/aptitude for it, give him a job as a coach or producer.

I don’t know, being the first person to win the brand new belt that was supposed to be more prestigious than the WWE title says otherwise lol
Unfortunately he is somewhat prone to injury, making him an unlikely candidate to be worth giving a world title push to if he is just going to get injured and drop the title

Outside of the Demon, I don't find Finn Bálor interesting.

Finn is basically Razor Ramon, they see him as “a” top guy but not “thee” top guy. He will have a solid money making spot in the company with a nice merch check for as long as he wants it. But he isn’t gonna be a world champion.

You either wrestle the WWE WAY or you get lost in the shuffle (hi, Ricochet). Run fast when your contract expires, Finn. You can make bank in Japan or AEW and actually do what you do best ... wrestle. Or, just become a fool like Baron Corbin and you can always be on TV.

So a guy that’s like 5’ -8” and can’t talk to save his life isn’t seen as a top guy in WWE. Definitely not a shocker.

Outside of the Demon, I don't find Finn Bálor interesting. same Same. Although, his Demon gimmick was pretty cool. Could someone please explain to me the ending of his match against Reigns? To this day, I cannot understand what happened or what was the point of them making the ring collapse. It would of made sense if it were a Fiend return or something that led to a storyline.
