Lately his booking really has been terrible. To me; he's lost a lot of status as a top star. Multiple loses to Lashley; which is fine getting Lashley over. But; after that he needed period of cooling and rebuilding. Someone like Jinder Mahal just isn't there to do that. And then losing further more. He's sort of sunk into this weird lost upper mid card baby face status. I think it will be hard to rebound the character; but with WWE's style of booking he will just randomly regain a world title with no substance to it.
I think Drew did fantastic job through COVID; and it may have been experimental run. I think WWE's shifted toward product where this isn't one true face. But; I think Drew could of been one of the faces that defined a era. I think Drew's booking from WM 36 to WM 37 was done great. But; ever since then his booking really has hurt his stock as big player. I think Mcintyre needs some time off TV and some fresh programs to get him back on track; if WWE is going to get him back on track.
Do you see Mcintyre regaining a top spot?

He’s still over as hell and definitely still think he’s the one taking the belt off Roman. Just going to be after Wrestlemania. I’m sure he will still have a high profile match.

McIntyre will be fine, and he’s honestly in a far better spot going forward than Big E (who was WWE Champ literally a month ago). Drew comes off as one of the top stars of the company. Yeah, they cooled him off by feeding him to Lashley, but it seemed like he was being primed for an eventual feud with Roman before his neck injury. And once Brock/Roman is finished, there’s really no one else on SD that comes off legit enough to go against Reigns. Drew will almost certainly win another world title within the next few years.

Drew can do whatever he wants for the next little while and be put into a WWE Title picture and it be accepted and considered normal.
Someone like Big E can't do the same. He probably will never see a WWE Title or title match in his near future.

He's in the Seth territory now. When he's not in the Main Event, he will not float into mic card irrelevancy cause he's just too popular and too "made". Whenever you need a building feud for someone, there ya go. Whenever you need a new title contender, there ya go. Need someone to give an award at the EMAs, there ya go.

He’ll win the World Title multiple more times and he’ll always be over with the fans no matter how he’s booked. Apparently Shane McMahon is booked for WM so that’ll be a nice match for Drew.

Big E just never got serious. He was given the title and yet he never showed any more intensity than he would as a part of New Day.
McIntyre completely re-invented himself and brought out a monster heel level intensity for a guy that was a face. He presented himself like a guy who could hold the title. Hell Jinder Mahal did the same thing, he presented himself like a champion. McIntyre is a guy they can rely on to throw into the main event picture any time because he proved himself.
Big E just came out still the same pancake slinging joke of a character. All he proved was as a singles star or a tag team in New Day, you’re getting the same thing so what’s the point of breaking up the team that sells them merch and tickets at that point

I had hope when they moved him to Smackdown he was going to be the one built up to take the title from Roman. then Brock came back and that was that, now he's just another guy who gets to endlessly feud with Corbin.

Like you said, he was a goofy midcarder before holding the belt, and he was a goofy midcarder after winning the belt. The WWE feels that the belt makes the star, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Drew is an example of this. He became more serious and simply kicked ass. He came off like he belonged in the main event with guys like Roman and Brock. He made the belt feel important, something guys like Big E and Kofi simply didn’t.

Drew is so dull and in a promotion where you need to have a personality. He needs to work on his character.

I get why Drew's in the position he's in now but hopefully he'll make it back to World Champ soon. He def has "it" to maintain his status near the top of the roster but just hopefully they dont ignore him for too long. He should absolutely be the one to take the title from Reigns at some point.

I'll be honest, Drew isn't exciting. He has a cool looka and a cool finisher, but he's just boring imo.

He needs a manager. Someone who can talk for him. Too bad Piper is dead.

He’s got the look and physique, but there’s just something about him that doesn’t click for me. I think it might be his promo work. I like his finisher. I think it’s similar to how Reigns felt like on the mic as a baby face. It just wasn’t organic. I think WWE should let some of their stars just freeball it. I believe Austin did it back in the day.
