"guys you don't understand, Cody making himself as unlikable as possible and booking all of those self-indulgent feuds for the past 2 years is all part of the bigger picture. Just you wait until that heel turn happens"
In all seriousness Cody shot himself in the foot and really has no one to blame but himself. The guy could have whatever he wanted in AEW and it still wasn't enough because he wanted to be the Real American Hero and big fish in a small pond. Hope he goes to WWE or NWA though.

The problem is the company moved on, gained more stars and Cody didn't really fit in anymore.
I'm sure the boo's really got to him as well.

This whole thing is too drastic a departure for it to be a shoot, especially Omegas comments on Cody. I know everybody will feel strongly about there being “NO WAY” it’s a work but all the players involved can easily turn this into a work, so it’s really no more a shoot than it is a work. Cody isn’t showing up in WWE, he’s just turning heel in AEW which sounds about right for this company at this point.
I’m saying this is a Pillman level work. Omegas comments were too direct & I honestly think Cody would have lost his mind to go back to WWE.

Cody talked a lot of sh*t about WWE while he was in AEW. He pointed out a lot of things he didn't like. Something happened in AEW and he decides to bail to go back to the place he had a grocery list of complaints about? You can almost be assured that whatever Cody wanted in AEW that they didn't give him will also not be given to him by Vince McMahon and the WWE.
It's an odd decision.

I may not have paid a lot of attention but I dont think there was ever any bad blood between Cody & WWE. I feel like most of the things done were all in kayfabe. (breaking of the throne & comments on tv/ppv etc)...Cody himself even said Triple H texted him congratulations after his kid was born and that was well after most of the anti WWE stuff.
I think Cody is more like Dusty, at least on the business side, then people realize.

At the end of the day, I think all Cody has ever wanted is for Vince to see him as a star. If all of this is true, he may have finally gotten his wish.

Hopefully he's not who Miz is going to "call". Coming in as Miz's new John Morrison is just sad. I know he was never the top guy in AEW but there is ZERO chance he'll be top guy in WWE. So it's all about that money I guess.

Rey/Miz is super uninteresting to begin with (at least to me anyway), so the rumored partner doesn’t hurt much in my eyes. Definitely not what I would want to see Cody doing.

I hope the rumor IS true. It saves Cody from having to work with Miz, and it just hurts WWE even more. Of COURSE they'd bring that kid in. Good lord.

There would be no bigger way to turn heel in AEW than to flirt with WWE. I’m not saying it’s a work (although this feels almost as fishy as Shane’s firing and the story surrounding it), but if it is, and he’s just doing this to turn heel, can we all please bow in reverence to the genius that is Cody Rhodes? Seriously, I don’t know what’s going on and I love it. I might be doing this to myself (like all of those people who thought Daniel Bryan was driving the Nexus limo after he was fired), but either way I REALLY just don’t want him to go to WWE. The thought of the heart and soul (and face) of AEW back in WWE just hurts my heart and soul.

I may have missed it, but they didn't mention it on Rampage. AEW social posted about it, wishing him well, no? So why didn't they wish him well on Rampage? If they don't mention it on Wednesday it's either a work ... or there was really bad blood but from all accounts there wasn't.

Does anyone think WWE should/would/will promote Cody's return? Do they bring him out as a surprise or do they promote him a week before to try to get some AEW fans to tune in and pop a rating?
I thought he was a loser in WWE. I think most fans did. He broke out in AEW but WWE fans who didn't watch still thought he was a loser. Now that he's going back to WWE are those fans going to think any differently? Are they just getting "loser Cody" back? Are they getting "AEW Pillar" Cody Rhodes?

Based on Omega’s interview, WWE was on Cody’s mind the whole time.

This all happened before Dynamite, so if anything was going to be said on TV it should’ve already been said on Dynamite. I don’t see why they would though. Everyone made their social media posts about it, that’s probably the end of it.

as I said elsewhere:
Dream scenario: punk/mjf are a bloody mess in the dog collar match, punk looks like he’s going to win despite taking massive damage…when Cody hits the ring and lays out Punk. MJF, shocked as everyone, slowly rolls over and takes the pin. Won’t happen I know, but that would be something.

Any news on what happens to Cody's wrestling school and the Nightmare Family stable? I would think Dustin would be a good leader.

Cody insisting that people booing him in AEW were just doing it because it was the cool thing to do continues one of my favorite things. People swear that’s what he was going for, him “working” the fans, but he obviously expected the reactions he’s getting now the entire time. Hilarious stuff.
