Why do they make such a pig's ear out of these Bret Hart headscans in terms of how the hair and fringe is presented? They seemingly have already made a blueprint on how to accurately create the Dean Ambrose hairstyle fringe, which is similar to how I would execute the Bret Hart styled hair. They should follow the same template of this toy for the Bret Hart facescan. Use this headscan and you have a winner. Then if they really need to have his hair going into his glasses why not just line up where the mould of his fringe is and just paint subtle lines of his hair colour onto his glasses. Seems simple to me. The differences with this Dean Ambrose headscan and the Bret Hart Ultimate headscans is that on the Ambrose toy his hair fringe is molded on and with the Bret Hart toy, it looks dangly and stringy as though if you pull hard enough you can detach it from the rest of his head.

Bret’s hair is longer as it reaches the bottom of his nose. So they really can’t mold that as part of the face sculpt.

Jakks made their Bret’s with sculpted hair on the forehead and it looked decent. Mattel has Bret’s likeness, it’s just the terrible hair that looks like dreadlocks. The other option would be to just mold his hair as usual and just not have any hair dangling in front of his face/forehead.

Solution: Stop making Bret Hart figures.

It wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t give him an eighthead and had the hair fall to the side instead of coming down over his face. They could make another head with molded on glasses and the hair over top of them

Yeah pretty sure Jakks had some molded past his eyes but on the outer side of the eyes down on his cheeks which I would be fine with but it the pic shown the hair is down to the bottom of Bret’s nose. And I think molded hair on the inside of the eyes down his nose would look bad. Another thing is they could just have the hair slicked back like the e42(?) Hart Foundation Bret.

I think Mattel has options. I have to say the newest Bret scan is my favorite thus far. It captures his likeness well minus the huge dome of a forehead. All I want is black singlet WCW Bret as an ultimate and I’ll stop critiquing as much.

It's not just the hair. I don't think there has ever been a good Bret scan. Not just Mattel, Jakks never really had one either. The closest was the Deluxe classic, but it was a screaming scan, so the mouth is weird. The likeness is closer there than any other head.
The best Bret head was probably from the second or third Toy Biz WCW Bret (the non-Howard Stern one), and even that didn't look that much like him. I'm not sure why Bret is such a hard likeness to capture. Edge seemed to be pretty tough as well, but they've since released a few really good ones.

The Wrestlemania 30/RSC King Of The Ring head is the best Bret likeness in my opinion... certainly for Mattel, anyway.

Well, I have these Japanese figma figures that can swap out the bangs of the hair, slot in spot out type deal, that could be something considered for the future. Of course that does leave a line at the top of the hair/head. Maybe instead of the whole head, swappable hair could be the way to go.
