Are prices going up? I hadn't noticed, because I'm a baller. But are you a straight caller? If you know, you know. I'm not really feeling it but the higher fuel prices aren't great. Since the UK switched to a slightly watered down petrol which doesn't last quite as long as before, and fuel companies blatantly gouging us in recent months, it's not great if I want a long drive somewhere. |

Hasnt really effected me much honestly. I prepared for this back in Nov '20. I knew I had a little over 2 months to work with the company to get myself back closer to home where I would be using A LOT less gas. I went from filling up weekly at around $45/tank (in 2020) to filling up every 2-2 1/2 weeks at roughly $75/tank

Reminder that gas prices have nothing to do with whoever the President is.
The oil and gas companies straight up said they aren't going to process more oil and that paying higher prices is good for everybody. Exxon just had a record year in profits. If it really was inflation, that wouldn't happen.
It's not inflation, it's price gouging.

It's not hitting me that hard yet. I'm thankful I live 10 miles away from my job and that I can get everything I need either on the way to or from work...or order online for stuff. But it does suck.

All of my utility bills went up, my natural gas bill went sky high, being the most out of all. Netflix, Amazon prime and most other streaming services went up including internet providers. Dish Network went up yet again and is ridiculous. The thing with that is I do not watch much TV and if I do it's mostly streaming stuff. The only regular TV I do watch is with a couple of shows with my wife. She watches regular TV all the time. I am the one who pays the bills though so I am basically paying for her to watch it, if it were just me the damn Dish Network would be gone and I'd save a heck of a lot of money. I cannot even have my package downgraded because any option I want to remove removes a bunch of channels she watches. So really my option is to dump some streaming services which screws me. ugh.

They've noticeably gone up here in New Zealand, mainly fuel and groceries. Theres also housing too but thats been an ongoing issue here for years now. Supermarkets have blamed the increases on Covid, although thats just a convenient excuse at this point. Going through the 12 items or less aisle will almost cost me what a week's worth would cost say three years ago. Thats not buying anything outlandish either. Normally I wouldn't really look at a price when buying something, I'd just chuck it in the trolley. Those days are slowly on their way out. Fuel costs are outrageous now though, and its an international thing too. I know political chat is (stupidly) against the rules here but I'll quickly say that it doesn't help that our  wit Prime Minister is telling people that the cost of fuel will continue to rise, which to me gives them an excuse to increase it, while getting ready to further tax diesel vehicles in the next month in order to push a green agenda. Diesel has more than doubled in the last couple of years. I couldn't believe that it hit $2 a litre last month and its already gone up to $2.30, and rising. Diesel being cheaper than petrol was my main reason for choosing a truck over a car but now diesel has matched the price of petrol from around 2018. Back then it would cost around $85 to fill my truck up and that would get me around 8-900km, nowadays its easily around $130 to fill it. But what can you do though? People gotta eat and travel. I think most people are past their breaking point too. LOL |

Working in HVAC, I feel so bad for our customers who are getting their furnaces or AC's condemned. Prices of new systems has gone up by 28-32% (!!) depending on the unit needed for your home. These systems were already a huge surprise expense and people can't go without heating or cooling their home. On top of that, its even more expensive to borrow money with interest rates going up across the board. I've always offered financing but now monthly payments through our consumer lenders are getting out of hand for a lot of people in my community.
Soon we are going to start AC maintenance and one of the most frequent line items for customers is recharging their units with refridgerant. I believe last year we charged around $139 for the first pound and about $90 for each additional pound. We just did our price breakdown and the first pound is over $200 and each additional pound is $159. This is an item we barely make any sort of profit on, either. We go through so much of it but its really difficult to obtain sometimes, so we try to really make the prices affordable for customers. But our cost is more this year than what we charged our customers last year.
This entire year or so has made me so, so thankful for where I am in life. Prices are going up but I haven't felt a bit of stress about it. My health is good and all of my family and friends came out on the other side of the pandemic in good shape. I really feel for those people who are going to be hit by inflation. Its going to cost you about $5,800 more in 2023 to live the exact same life as you are this year. For so many people in my community, thats going to be a 'make or break' situation for their households.

Hopefully things level out soon; but I think the 2020s will be marred with recovering from all this and what aftermath this brings. My job also allows me to keep living and supporting and helping those around me. But I work to damn much and I hope when this mellows out I can go on back to different job in law enforcement where I don’t feel like I live at my work 😂😂 |

I can see it here and there, the price rises. I work for Home Depot and the price of paint seems to have gone up a lot BUT I've been there almost 10 years and based on the pricing I see, maybe the prices per gallon have gone up $2 per year. But there are still cheaper options though not as good. The accessories, which is where we make the most money based on our cost really haven't gone up too much from what I see.
Where I see the price increased are Panera and Chik Fil A. I rush around on my lunch break but do enjoy a nice sit down meal without having to put everything together myself. A tiny salad like a size you get at Walmart or Target is like $9 at Panera. I feel like the size twice as large was like $6 or 7 a few years ago. The Chik Fil A sandwiches are over $7 for grilled. But there are lower cost options available. I see no major price increases, if any, at Walmart. And I just opened a Costco (Price Club "back in the day") membership where I just got $14 worth of grilled chicken patties and rolls (12 patties, 12 rolls) that are MUCH cheaper than Chik Fil A and will make meals for weeks. I try to buy small and small businesses still seem to have the best price around though I'm sure they are feeling the pinch more than anyone else on the restaurant scene.
Edit: I made a sandwich with the Costco chicken patty. It's more like a hamburger in looks and size (smaller than Chik Fil A and Panera) but the flavor is very powerful. Actually it overwealms everything else but in a slightly good way. The cheese melts right into the patty even if cold cheese so you have to keep adding new once you've eaten each piece. But definetely beats any of the high and low dollar fast food places. I just love talking food! It's crazy that Panera can get away with charging $11.95 for a sandwich. But they will as long as people keep buying them.

I feel it strongly on meds. I was diagnosed with the type 2 diabetes four years ago and since then need to take different medicaments here and there. At the moment it is much cheaper to buy victoza online and all the other meds as well. In my opinion it is insane, and should be controlled by government , like in many developed countries. Those essential drugs must be very cheap if not free. |
