It’s so easy to say it’s a standard hogan “match”, but the way it played out and with that crowd, this felt and still is a special match. One of the biggest of all time and should have been the main event.

Given the talent they had on the roster at the time, the number of dream matches possible, the fact that it is essentially a “one match show” makes it one of the biggest disappointing Wrestlemanias for me. People can bash todays booking all they want, but how you have most of the major stars of the Monday Night Wars(And ECW!) and give us this is such a bummer.
Loved it as a teenager though

WM X8 is kind of like what the real Invasion PPV should have been
Every Match was kind of like a WWF vs WCW/ECW dream match, especially if they changed it to Kurt/Perfect, Nash/Kane then changed the Tag match a bit to have a wcw team.
If they had somehow waited till late 2001/early 02 and then started the invasion - I mean they probably would screw it up but at least we would have had the talent we claim they didnt have that ruined it, you got nWo, Flair, perfect, Dustin Rhodes and you still had DDP, Booker T, and RVD.

Imagine had they signed Goldberg one year earlier and we get a card like this… Austin vs Goldberg Rock vs Hogan HHH vs Flair Brothers of Destruction vs The Outsiders Undisputed Title Jericho vs RVD Angle vs Mr. Perfect IC Title Regal vs Booker T Women’s Title Trish vs Lita Dammm this would have been the biggest & best WM of all time... even years & years later it’d be nearly impossible to top this card. Imagine Sting signed earlier & HBK returned earlier... we could have also got Sting vs HBK. |

Those two would be huge matches, easily two of the biggest dream matches ever. Biker Taker vs Sting would have been good in 02 but it should have happened anywhere around 05-2018 with it being Deadman Taker vs Sting. |

Really enjoyed Taker vs Flair & Rock vs Hogan....great stuff. rest is meh. I was 22 when this went down...and ill tell ya this...never have I ever been less excited for a WWF title match than HHH vs Jericho. Jerichos booking was SO bad going into this that it was impossible to have any kind of genuine interest in the match.
crowd didnt care either...and despite what everyone says? it wasnt anything to do with Hogan & Rock(which should have been last) it was the booking of the HHH vs Jericho angle.

The booking of Jericho going into WM18 is horrific....it hurt HHHs face run too. Horrific is an understatement lol. I’m honestly shocked with Steph’s ego that she didn’t book herself into the main event of WM that year since the feud really was HHH vs Steph. On Bruce’s podcast he mentioned potentially having Nash beat Jericho for the undisputed titles and run HHH/Nash for the world title at WM (thankfully it got shot down). If that was a consideration though, just run HHH/Nash with Nash and the nWo being a hired gun for Steph. Then you can turn Jericho or Angle face and run Jericho/Angle for the Undisputed Title (unfortunately HHH’s ego would never allow this but it would have made more sense storyline-wise for everyone). |

I heard the Steph & nWo thing before but I reckon there was nothing to it because HHH nixed any potential involvement with them from the sidelines....Vinnie had pictured much different scenarios for WM18 featuring the nWo...no doubt 🤣🤣🤣
